Bad Decisions Posted October 12 Posted October 12 I didn't initially like walking proud when it was released. The lyrics were beautiful but as a song It was fine. It was just sort of there for me. The performance at the MY STORY tour really turned me into a stan however and now I love it so much 1

Bad Decisions Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Honestly the classical version of walking proud is one of my FAVES. I should've scored it better

Graves Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 Track #1 on I am... HIGH SCORE: 10 x 5 (Kyle-x, blueberries, Maresia, AMIT, confide in me) LOW SCORE: 3.1 x 1 (Curaga) HOST SCORE: 8.5 I agree with everybody who praised this for being a full opener song and not just a brief interlude. It's funny that this is somehow kind of subversive in Ayu's career... the prospect of starting an album with an actual song. That said, what a weird little track! The acapella opening is a wild choice, but it does fit a lot with the restructured vibe of the album. Natural queen, clad in leaves and flowers. And yet, the industrial rock vibes that evolve as the song continues are equally fitting. The album shoot does feature Ayu in a vast desert. Nature queen in a barren wasteland... maybe it's after the end? This does sound a post-apocalyptic pop song tbh! When I first started listening to Ayu I always assumed this was a single for some reason. Maybe it's just the power it emanates or the relatively decent streaming numbers? Not quite the case, unfortunately. Maybe it's a little too weird to be a full single, but at the same time if any popstar was willing to throw out quirky, sometimes downright strange songs as singles... that'd be Ayu! Suilen: the song perfectly reflects the album: great moments mixed with boredom. Kyle-x: Has anyone looked as gorgeous as she did in the CM featuring this song? This song goes OFF. The way the song starts with raw vocals with no instrumentation and ends stripped back with highly processed vocals… that's ART! Honestly every remix of this is good, but you MUST check out the "Huge Fairy tAle mix" omg it's SO good. Invisibility: Oh an opener! Probably the best from the albums this era, and not only because Ayu comparatively loved herself a non-song intro during these years. It's a fierce statement. I will say though that the melody/intonation during those long choruses has always been a bit of a drawback though. Meloetta Carey: existentialist queen. Bad Decisions: always love when she performs this live. AMIT: talk your **** mama, one of her best songs and cute that she switched up her usual intros with something like this. 9/16 2
Kyle-x Posted October 12 Posted October 12 No but really, this remix is one of the best of her remixography whew

Suilen Posted October 12 Posted October 12 I liked a remix of this but at this point it wouldn't be rating the album but individual songs and I'm not sure if that's the right approach

Graves Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 Track #4 on Duty HIGH SCORE: 10 x 3 (Kyle-x, blueberries, AMIT) LOW SCORE: 5 x 1 (Fevesy) HOST SCORE: 8 At heart, Ayu has always been a rock girlie. Though the early parts of Duty might have taken her to some new and exotic locales, Ayu will always find her way back to her true love, even at the end of the world. What else can you say about such a track? It's an energetic rock banger, jamming out as the continents sink into the sea. Such a dramatic track. I like the way it weaves soft, dreamy verses with that aural assault of a chorus. I must confess, I initially found her wailing on this song a little annoying. It's kind of grown on me now though. I mean, the world is ending so why shouldn't she be screaming? Another non-single, End of the World still managed to get included in a TU-KA mobile phone commercial. I dunno if I'd use this song to sell phones but get money regardless, queen. End of the World hasn't seen many live outings, unfortunately, but Ayu did revive it for a once-off performance in 2008. It's a great live track too, so it's surprising that she hasn't used it more. Maybe she doesn't want to set her vocal chords on fire trying to hit those choruses again? That would be valid. Suilen: she makes apocalypse sound like a good time. Kyle-x: Has the apocalypse ever sounded so good? Kill us all, queen omfg. The "orb 7" 'nigh laddy' remix" is a really cool one. Curaga: idk what I love about this one, but I just love it... Awesome bassline. Meloetta Carey: my most played Ayu track, I'm kind of indifferent to it now though. Bad Decisions: the CDL performance changed me. I believe it was 08/09? Anyway I fell in love with her performance. AMIT: love noisy rock like this and miss ayuma did not disappoint. 5/13 2
Kyle-x Posted October 12 Posted October 12 The way she was so booked and busy back then you have CMs, performances, remixes, tie-ups to discuss for a song that was not even a single nnn 1
