It takes to much for the buildup Love the video cause i live for fairytale-esque stuff i wonder how expensive it was However much they paid for that was too much I fear.
Kyle-x Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Some of the imagery for forgiveness gives me Princess Frog more than it does fairy sksksk 3
Graves Posted October 9 Author Posted October 9 Track #9 on A Song for ×× HIGH SCORE: 10 x 1 (AMIT) LOW SCORE: 3 x 1 (Fevesy) HOST SCORE: 8 Not me being a non-hater on the debut for once. The initial chimes might fool you into thinking we have another debut ballad to slog through, but nope. The rug is pulled out from under and we're put face to face with the realest track from the entire album. As If... is just a solid pop song, one of the clearest encounters we have with early Ayu's guitar love affair. The whole track is laden with great moments but that solo over the bridge is just especially divine. The only thing I don't like about the song is the extended outro, when things soften back down a little bit and we're treated to some trademark early Ayu "la la la" hooks. I just feel the song warrants more of a harder finish, the guitar should be absolutely shredding it!! I also lowkey wish the song was more of a defiant send-off break up track, and not a "I'm sure we can work it out" mess. But that's maybe just my bitter misandrist side speaking, hehe. I'm approaching J-pop from too much a western perspective perhaps. This song did receive some interesting remixes, but for once I actually prefer the album mix on this one. Though it could've used an A BALLADS style rerecording with some cleaned up instrumentation to really take it to that top tier level. In my dreams, I guess... Suilen: ended the absolutely middery that is Kana's song with a similar title, if Maresia gives this anything less than a 7, the ballot should be immediately discarded. Kyle-x: A nice song, I love the guitar. Meloetta Carey: a little too much guitar. AMIT: TATOEBA KONO MAMAAA 10/17 3 1
AMIT Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Quote Curaga: These slow, dramatic, sweeping-back-and-forth songs like this and Heartplace bore tf out of me shots fired @Kyle-x

Invisibility Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Aww come on guys this one was actually pretty solid! The fakeout intro, the beginnings of some great guitar deepcuts later on in her career, etc. 2
Britneyfan09 Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Thank you @AMIT for displaying taste. I would've also given this a 10 1 1

Graves Posted October 9 Author Posted October 9 (edited) Track #16 on MY STORY HIGH SCORE: 10 x 1 (Kyle-x) LOW SCORE: 5.5 x 1 (Suilen) HOST SCORE: 7.5 Of all of the ending suite songs on MY STORY, I think winding road is perhaps the best of the lot. Faint praise, but hey. Something about this song allows it to still be optimistic but also doesn't sacrifice too much of the album's identity in the process. It's not quite as sickly sweet as some of the tracks around it. The way they made it sound like little raindrops were falling throughout too? Lush! The guitar solo isn't groundbreaking or anything, but it does help winding road to fit in with the rest of the album. I think this one would've made for a fine closing track alone. Even Ayu seems to have realized that, as she tried to correct course and did that same thing with rainy day on (miss)understood a year later. Now, with all of that said? I don't love this track. It is still one of the weaker tracks on MY STORY imo… I just think it makes for a more satisfying conclusion to the record than any of the surrounding tracks. Decent, nice, pleasant, all of those good words. Leaves little impression but maybe that's better than a bad impression? Kyle-x: This should really be the closing track for the album. Both of the classical versions of this are super nice. Invisibility: Not this Lifetime movies matinee closing song... it's rough. Curaga: Hmmm, same vibe as Endless sorrow tbh, like the end of a movie. I like this one a little better though. Meloetta Carey: i could see myself becoming weirdly obsessed with this someday but today is not that day. AMIT: beautiful closing track. 13/17 Edited October 9 by Graves 2
Curaga Posted October 9 Posted October 9 @Invisibility: Not this Lifetime movies matinee closing song... it's rough. YES EXACTLY but I actually like it nnn
Kyle-x Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Another song where the guitar HITS this song really gives movie closing track that fades into the credits
Invisibility Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I can get behind this! Sure it's a change of pace from Replace and Humming 7/4 around it, but not a particularly good one. I really dislike the main melodies, but I guess I can hear how they were aiming for whimsical (and failed) x
