Meloetta Carey Posted October 7 Posted October 7 I'm only sad about "girlish" and "from your letter" but other than that
Suilen Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Those who couldn't do this part better prepare for part 2 in advance, yeah. Let's pull a reverse Joker 2. 1
Invisibility Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Wonderland... The brain-eating side of Timmy possessed her via time machine wormhole and made her put that horrendous thing on her album before they even met. BOOT! I never expected the interludes to last long, so it's nice to see Catcher and Introduction hanging on. I'm not liking how there's been more proper I am... songs culled than Duty; hopefully we see a change next update! Funnily, + is my biggest proper loss so far (a 7.5)! As for me any time after 6:30 pm CST works well for reveals. Oh and the graphics are gorge! 1 1
Suilen Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Saying it with love, but Curaga dragging circus music is like a hare dragging a forest it lives in. 2
Suilen Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I see no villainry so far but I'm ready to lash out once my faves are involved
Kyle-x Posted October 8 Posted October 8 11 hours ago, Graves said: Already out here culling the singles... 4th Single Track #15 on A Song for ×× HIGH SCORE: 10 x 1 (Kyle-x) LOW SCORE: 0 x 1 (Bad Decisions) HOST SCORE: 6 Already kicking out her hits*? Ruthless ddd. *citation needed. Ayumi's fourth ever single, and her second top ten hit. Ayu was starting to make a name for herself by now, scoring slightly more CM tie-ins and promo appearances, For My Dear was only a modest hit but I'm sure it has its fans... not on this site clearly, but somewhere else. The music video is one of her less memorable ones. It's one of those "storyline" type videos that spends most of the runtime focusing on some no-name characters walking around. At least Ayu appears in between scenes, serving in a nasty bob. Mother. For My Dear is placed right in the middle of my own ranking for the debut. Some lovely melodies and an overall inoffensive vibe to the entire thing, but really nothing attention-grabbing either. A song that I can enjoy in the moment but is quickly forgotten about once the next track starts playing. I'm not like, mad that it's out so early but I definitely could've seen a couple of other debut tracks down this low instead. Suilen: songs about ******* your producer never sounded so sweet. Kyle-x: Love how dramatic this is and the way the production lifts in the second half. The house remix on ayu-mi-x 7 snaps. Curaga: This sounds like re-do of A Song for ×× but not anywhere near as good lol. Bad Decisions: ma'am these vocals 17/17 This did nawt deserve to be the first single OUT.
Kyle-x Posted October 8 Posted October 8 10 hours ago, Graves said: And I hate to leave things hanging on just an interlude, so have a track too! Track #12 on I am... HIGH SCORE: 9 x 1 (Katamari) LOW SCORE: 0 x 1 (Bad Decisions) HOST SCORE: 6 dddd; me being confused as to why generasia doesn't list this with Ayu's other singles and then seeing that she doesn't claim it. Not even an appearance on A COMPLETE BEST, mama? Ayu really said "Oh, that? No that was just a promo single..." Valid and fair. Originally released as a duet with Globe songstress Keiko, A Song is born was part of the Song Nation compilation album. It was released to raise money in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. We know that the attacks had a big impact on Ayumi especially, even leading her to scrap the original concept for I am... and rebrand it with the utterly camp earth-mother cover that we know and love. She was definitely feeling her generous oats in that era, which is perhaps the only explanation for this song getting a full slot on the album. Only a solo mix though, ddd. She said "I'm doing enough charity as is." I've gone this long without talking about the song itself because... well, I don't have much to say. It's nice. It's nice to hear Ayu duet with another female artist and it obviously was for a good cause. You know, it's um, pleasant. Did I mention that it's nice? Yeah, I'm avoiding the main point here which is that it's just a boring song that goes on for too long and plods through the six minute runtime. I'd take the duet version if forced to choose, but I'd probably prefer silence if it were up to me. And although Ayu might not claim this as one of her own singles, she damn sure claims the #1 peak this gave her when flaunting her stats! Scammer queen! You better turn a national tragedy into an opportunity for clout, sister. George W Bush teas. Suilen: The only good stuff the Japanese Dr. Puke gave her was on Love songs, and even then partially; this still has traces of his usual production. Kyle-x: I definitely prefer this as a solo track… I like this song but it goes on a bit too long. Invisibility: The production is technically ass, but I'm a bit of a rimmer. Queen was straining rhat range for the choruses and for what? The Keiko duet is very cute, probably the better version since it's a bit more versatile over 6 minutes Curaga: Whyyyyy are these songs so fuckiing long, oh my GOD! AMIT: songnation could have kept this one I fear, drags on too much, but I guess it fits with the rethought concept of the album 15/16 Now this (or another one that isn't out yet) should've been the first single OUT! 10 hours ago, Graves said: ...and why not make it a double? Track #7 on A Song for ×× HIGH SCORE: 10 x 1 (Kyle-x) LOW SCORE: 3 x 3 (Fevesy, sanzo, AvadaKedavra) HOST SCORE: 3.5 Poor Wishing so many ASfxx lashings on this page omg 10 hours ago, Graves said: Is everybody ready to start jumping? Track #17 on MY STORY HIGH SCORE: 9 x 1 (UrMom) LOW SCORE: 0 x 1 (Bad Decisions) HOST SCORE: 6.5 Now onto a track that Ayu seems to love, while the fandom does not. Humming is a live staple of Ayu's tours, because... you tell me, I guess. Nah, jokes aside I can sort of see the appeal. "Everybody go, everybody jump," is the call and response, crowd-motivating chant that artists love to wheel out because the audience loves to play along. You see? People WANT to be told what to do. Ayu says jump? Get those clogs off the floor, buddy boy. The Empress has spoken. And really, I don't mind the chanting parts. Honest! I haven't been to an Ayu tour in person yet but I'm sure it's electric when she wheels it out. (Though it seems she has yet to perform it this decade? Mayhaps we are saved after all.) I just don't think it makes for a very good song as a total package. I complain about some of the other closing songs on MY STORY being too sweet and not "rock" enough, but now I'm taking the opposite stance. This is just too obvious. You know how we hear some Ayu interludes and think "whoa, that should be a full song"? This is the opposite. This should be an interlude between two better tracks. Keep the chanting parts and dump the rest. Album saved. This song also got a video for some reason. I assume avex was making TOO much money that particular month, and needed some write-offs. Ayu dons her best '80s lesbian rocker get-up and hops around in a red cage for a bit. I suppose there are worse ways to kill five minutes. Also, can you believe that this and WONDERLAND are the only songs that Ayu wrote the music for on this album? ...Maybe it's for the best that she retired the composing baton. Suilen: no offense but the last 4 songs here and on another album of hers from the next part that I won't mention lest gays get triggered could be trimmed, and nothing of value would be lost, though this song in particular kinda bops. Kyle-x: The PV is great and this is obviously a concert staple. While it's a fun song, it's not one I ever actively seek out. Invisibility: This with a proper, good chorus would eat up girlish, Flower garden and + with ease, alas... it's okay. Meloetta Carey: i love when pop stars make bops about how much they hate their jobs. Bad Decisions: fun in concerts but that's all. I often forget this song exists. AMIT: a decent encore track, overall it's just there for me though. 16/17 Cute but not her strongest rock chick showing
Kyle-x Posted October 8 Posted October 8 10 hours ago, Graves said: Track #1 on Duty HIGH SCORE: 10 x 2 (Kyle-x, confide in me) LOW SCORE: 0 x 1 (SA*KURA) HOST SCORE: 5 Well, it's not exactly the most showstopping intro she's ever done, is it? I do like the vibe though! That Y2K virtual start-up atmosphere with the automated voice... it's actually kind of giving PlayStation 2 boot menu theme. Which is the highest of complements to this nostalgic nerd. With that said, it's a bit of an odd fit on Duty, isn't it? Sort of seems like a better fit for LOVEppears or another dance record. I don't think it flows very well into the next song (the amazing title track). I think starting over sort of fails as an actual introduction to this particular album, but I do enjoy it as a standalone piece of music. Ayu has also wheeled this intro out on several of her tours over the years. She must have a soft spot for it too. Kyle-x: So good, I love the distorted synths in this. Really sets the tone for the album. Invisibility: A good continuation for Introduction/Interlude, but the way it doesn't fit Duty's vibe at all is funny. AMIT: kinda weird at first going into Duty but somehow it works! 13/13 and while we're culling interludes... Track #2 on I am... HIGH SCORE: 10 x 2 (Kyle-x, AvadaKedavra) LOW SCORE: 0 x 1 (SA*KURA) HOST SCORE: 7 What's even the point of having an intro when you put a song before it on the tracklist? Like, isn't that defeating the purpose? What exactly is this thing "opening" anyway? Other than my legs when the beat drops? ...And after all that, it turns out I actually like this interlude, nnn. My bad. I just find something alluring about that spooky synth line. This sounds like it should be playing as the opening theme to an angsty teenage drama series. You can totally see it, right? The names popping up on screen as this track blasts? Also does this remind anyone else of the Buffy theme? Kyle-x: Perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the album. The extended mix on the Daybreak is great too. Invisibility: This gets amazing marks because it segues into Connected so extremely well. Meloetta Carey: very cutie but not very honey. I like that it sounds like it could be in a video game or something. However, I feel like the beginning of "connected" is so abrupt (complimentary) that putting it after the opener keeps the momentum going. And it makes this interlude feel more like a speed bump than a segue. AMIT: cute intro for connected but overall kinda pointless I fear. 14/16 These back to back slays... but can't be mad at interludes/intros going really 9 hours ago, Graves said: Track #14 on A Song for ×× HIGH SCORE: 10 x 3 (Kyle-x, AMIT, AvadaKedavra) LOW SCORE: 2 x 1 (Invisibility) HOST SCORE: 5 That flute at the start of the track had me thinking I might enjoy the chill vibes of this track, but that same flute ends up being the most interesting part of the track. The opening does give a brief Janet tea, but it's only a fleeting moment I fear. It's unfortunate because I think there's a lot of potential to this song, but it doesn't really reach any of it for me. I really think the flute could be interwoven to the melody more seamlessly, rather than reserved for solos between the choruses. And lord knows that those choruses need some support as they're some of the more... reserved moments across the album. This song just feels like a swing and a miss I'm afraid. I'm all for a good laidback vibe, but I still need something of substance to cling onto. Suilen: this one also fell off for me, sadly. Kyle-x: I love the laidback production on this song and the lyrics are so cute. The "DJ HASEBE REMIX" is incredible too, transforming the song into a moody R&B track. The "pandart sasanooha Mix" is like an acid trip, the way it opens with a horse neighing is a kiii, but it's pretty good. Invisibility: The way this sounds ripped straight from a lounge karaoke bar. Oh it was bad for ha. AMIT: yes it sounds like an anime ending or something, but idc I love it so much. 11/17 Oh not this.... not this... but I guess I didn't expect it to exactly slay the competition ddd.

What is there to talk about with neverending dream...? I mean, it's got some aquatic lullaby vibes which I don't mind. Zora's Domain energy. I think it's just fine as a piece of music, but it isn't one of my favorite Ayu interludes. Some of you girls mentioned enjoying it as an intro for Voyage... I'm sure that's nice for people who listen to Voyage. Kyle-x: The perfect transition into Voyage. Invisibility: A fittingly majestic introduction for Voyage. Curaga: now why is this interlude the most interesting thing on RAINBOW Meloetta Carey: kinda sounds like the music for a production logo before a movie. 14/16 Track #1 on RAINBOW HIGH SCORE: 10 x 2 (Kyle-x, Curaga) LOW SCORE: 0 x 1 (SA*KURA) HOST SCORE: 4 Judging by the comments, some of you girls go hard for this track. Love that for you, truly. Unfortunately, I'm more likely to be found hitting the skip button so I can proceed to pop my puss to WE WISH. I think this works just fine as an interlude. Not her worst nor her best, but I am happy that we've got through most of them and I can really start writing about the songs with some meat on their bones. At least the dream sisters got to depart the rate hand-in-hand, how cute. Even if you guys did eliminate the RAINBOW interludes in the exact opposite order that they should've gone. Kyle-x: Definitely in her top 3 interludes/intros. The remix is good too! Invisibility: It's like falling asleep and immersing yourself into the REM phase. One of her best. ...it's definitely like one of those things, yeah. Curaga: Love this intro. Reminds me of the instrumental on Madonna's Little Star. Meloetta Carey: very pretty, ehh transition. Bad Decisions: the dewdrops remix elevates this interlude so much! 13/16 Now this is kind of a gag... everlasting dream could snuck into the top 80 at least 1
