Titanbaddie Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Jen has had a very hard 2024. the album tanked, her tour was cancelled, Her documentary and projects panned, Social Media seemed to randomly turn on her and now she's announced a divorce from the man she released a documentary and album about just 6 months ago. I can't think of any pop girl who has had it worse since maybe Britney in 2007 and even she managed to put out a successful record. 3 2

cartierdelrey Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I would argue Katy is having much worse of a PR year than J Lo. Yes, J Lo's cancelled and unsuccessful projects have been broadcasted all throughout this year. But I've never seen the media go out of their way to point out failures and make strong comments about someone's lack of artistry (Katy). Katy is being hounded for her Dr Luke associations, the reunion producing unsuccessful projects, her lack of artistic growth, and her being on the wrong side of history when it comes to Kesha. All I've seen about J Lo's divorce is how she doesn't "look" like she's going through a divorce, her supposed support for Palestine, and how she can't keep a marriage (but yet never has seemed to be publicly documented going through distress). 12

ThePopStop Posted August 22 Posted August 22 No way. Even though her tour got cancelled and the album flopped, JLo wasn't dragged by fans and the media the way Katy is. In fact, the media seems to have bought her "family" excuse for canceling the tour. I haven't read anything linking it to underwhelming ticket sales and album performance. 1
Bloodflowers. Posted August 22 Posted August 22 The year is not over, she can still turn things around 2
Mordecai Posted August 22 Posted August 22 If we're excluding personal lives then I wouldn't say JLo because she had nothing to lose. Did anyone really expect an independently released Jennifer Lopez album, 10 years after her last (which also wasn't very successful), to smash? Either way she still has a successful acting career to go back to that's unaffected by her music Compare that to my fave Katy who was geared up to make a comeback, everyone was anticipating one and she had the backing of the big machine to make it happen, and everything just fell flat. It really feels like this is her last chance and so even though it's been a while since she last had a hit she's got everything to lose, and she fumbled the bag before the album was even out. As a KC it's frustrating to witness 3
DonnaSpring Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) Katy Perry 2024 , Britney 2011 , Madonna 2015 Edited August 22 by DonnaSpring 3
Gelato Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) I don't think so. It's definitely been rough for her online but with the GP it's more apathy. I don't think they hate her, they just don't want to listen to new JLo music or go to a JLo tour in 2024. Edited August 22 by Gelato 1
80x100 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 jlo went from OUT to OUT while katy went #1 to OUT. so imo katy has the worst pr team
Infernal Paradise Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Katy's is worse. I haven't seen a negative PR firestorm quite like that in a long, long time, especially when it was being touted as her "big comeback" moment. Just outright critical and general public PANNING from the jump that will likely continue till the album release. Deservedly so. 3

You didn't read anything bc the tickets were selling well 1
STMG23 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I think JLos year has been worse than Katys. But Ms. Purry can still take 2025 1

The graphics showed majorities of many venues still available and the 70% figure was only after a bucketload of cancellations. Someone posted the receipts here. 1
fememeist Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Jlo going viral with the twitter and tik tok girlies for donating 4M to Palestine has put her in a good position again so no 1

The 70% figure was after she cancelled 5 shows and she still had plenty of time. If she wanted to she could've made the tour a success. Maybe she didn't want to bother but it definitely wad predominantly due to the inevitable divorce and the whole project being attached to a love letter to the ending marriage. It wouldn't have been a smash tour, sure. But it would've don't decently enough. 3
Slap Posted August 22 Posted August 22 No she's made absolute bank and been all over the place tbh and her album was actually good. Katy would have the worst PR year of 2024 so far. 1
Funnyfatty Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Jlo is being hated for being fake katy is being hated for being a terrible person there is a difference. + even though its so hated jlo had a GOOD album. Bye 1

It looks like she only has yes people around her and all of them are out of touch. 2
LadyDiana Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Yall expecting from Tonys puppet revenge girl JlO too much. She's amazing entertainer and will exsist in some form in celeb world. Katy is just over and done. Relic of a gone era

But jlo isn't doing that bad either. Her netflix movie did well after her all the hate 1

I checked seats weeks after they went up for sale and 3/4 of seats were available. And this was for a major city. List price for floor seats were $300-800. Sorry hun, you can't charge Taylor Swift prices for your show.
