thatsmydemi Posted August 21 Posted August 21 The song feels much bigger than its chart run on Billboard suggests tbh, especially worldwide. 6
Tm4074 Posted August 21 Posted August 21 It's much bigger globally than in the U.S. It's going to be her fastest song to 1B on Spotify beating 7 rings . Radio hasn't been here for her this album which is weird. Positions was a smash era on radio and ES did just okay. I know ATRL is a bunch of pop gays but a good portion of her U.S audience is here for her more urban sound evidenced by Positions doing significantly better on streaming and radio in the U.S. Besides TBIM which was a post album single and they completely missed the timing for it, both singles from ES were pop. U.S tends to sleep on her more poppier songs since 2016. 4 3
UnusualBoy Posted August 21 Posted August 21 It did fine but considering the way she's ignored the era, this isn't shocking.

Joey307 Posted August 21 Posted August 21 It's a beautiful song and the saving grace of singles for ES
State of Grace. Posted August 21 Posted August 21 It was and still is a global smash hit. Nothing went wrong. How are you still getting brave after swearing that she was over earlier this year and that Endless Snooze Vacation was going to be bigger than Eternal Sunshine. 1 3

Ariana still out streamed Miley in 2023, despite Miley releasing a whole album, and according to her fans, the biggest pop song of all time Smilers are just delusional and pressed that their fave never became the superstar Ariana is. 1 6

I would say it's dance and a bad song, but this one is phenomenal and sounds like a traditional pop/hac song.
BrokenMachine Posted August 21 Posted August 21 (edited) So the song is just 'at risk' of being recurrent. It's not recurrent yet and still you made a thread about it ? 2 hours ago, Twizzy said: Some of these replies are showing their age because 20 weeks is not normal anymore in today's music climate, maybe in 2011. Even albums fifth singles spend 35 weeks at times (Get Into It Yuh and Feather, 37 weeks each). 20 weeks is normal in today's music climate when it's still the goalpost for songs before the recurrent rule strikes in. If the song is lingering at the 35-50 area and an album bomb happens, it's over for that song. The examples you mentioned are from those girls biggest eras, they have no other fifth single in their discography pulling something like that Edited August 21 by BrokenMachine 2

Right, like we can bring up the album track streams from ES compared to ESV. Saturn Returns Interlude which is a 30 second spoken word interlude that Ariana does not appear on outstreamed 65% of ESV tracks. Never mind the other tracks that are obliterating ESV. Love Miley but her fans keep setting her up and reminding us that Flowers is the only thing keeping her afloat commercially both globally and in the U.S. 1 1

That's the thing with her songs! A lot of her singles may not have a huge run on billboard, but has a huge culture impact. Sweetener wasn't on the charts for long or had insane sales, but still such an iconic era!

Say thank you Weeknd's payola. Weeks on chart: Yes And? + WCBF = 36 weeks Jaded + UTBY = 36 weeks This is without Flowers since y'all love to dismiss that and y'all swearing up and down that Godley "doesn't have a hit in decades" yet her "flops" are performing on the same level as Ariana's forgettable and fleeting #1s without the weeknd Edited August 21 by Miley Cyrus

Just a Gay on ATRL Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Yall are never satisfied. Before the ES era people thought #1 was completely out of her reach and she ended up getting not one but TWO new #1s.

Yes And Is at 515m streams and WCBF is at 800m and still doing 3m daily. They're not on the same level commercially lol 23 weeks isn't bad but a bit weak during the streaming era. This era is definitely bigger than Positions WW which matters more. But yeah it's an underperformance in the US.
