Billionaire Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Wasn't there some whole thing about it possibly being banned in the EU too? Crazy how Elon has turned that app into 4chan 2.0

Elon could have avoided the "horrendous and scary future" simply by following teh countries rules and naming a representative person, it's simple as that. He wants to **** on a country law, his ventures are not welcomed there. 3

Censorship = requiring a multi-billionaire to have legal representation to defend his pet project of pumping bot-generated political misinformation and illegal porn to the masses? How did you feel about the boosting of sexual deep fakes of Taylor? Oh some of your brains are really really cooked 17 5

But now that the shoe is on the other foot suddenly it's a problem Quote We reserve the right to remove Content that violates the User Agreement, including for example, copyright or trademark violations or other intellectual property misappropriation, impersonation, unlawful conduct, or harassment. Raichu Posted September 1 Posted September 1 6 hours ago, Dera said: why would you try and sneak porn into the same breath as "right wing grifters and nazis"? sex workers are among the most persecuted, abused, scapegoated, ostracized, and demonized people by right wing movements. tumblr and twitter hosted the most active leftish communities of the 2010s (relative to instagram and facebook, for example) because they didn't censor erotic (and just generally sex-related) content, so these were safe places for trans and queer people, sexual violence survivors, sex workers, etc. to exist in public and discuss the things important to us without erasure. these groups are among the most "loyal"/obligate left wing constituencies, because right wingers would rather exterminate us. People shouldn't be exposed to *****graphy without any consent just scrolling down their social media feeds. If you're actively following accounts that post porn then that's fine and normal but the Twitter for you page algorithm does not actually account for any of that. Thinking that its wrong to be spammed with unsolicited *****graphy isn't persecuting sex workers.. 2

There are plenty of examples of censorship under Musk. https://english.elpais.com/international/2023-05-24/under-elon-musk-twitter-has-approved-83-of-censorship-requests-by-authoritarian-governments.html https://gizmodo.com/10-times-elon-musk-censored-twitter-users-1850570720 https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2023/5/2/twitter-fulfilling-more-government-censorship-requests-under-musk Quote The social media giant fully or partially complied with 98.8 percent of takedown requests it received from October 27, the date of Musk's takeover, to April 13, including hundreds of requests from Turkey and India, which have faced criticism for silencing critics. 2 7

Twitter/X is a company, that has to abide by the rules of the countries it operates in, if it doesn't then it gets banned People that talk about free speech never have any clue what that concept actually means 3 3

They like to give their (hateful) opinion on topics about transpeople, abortion, religion, homosexuality, race, or being a woman. But when it comes to real life, they never want you to have freedom when it comes to these topics. The "free speech" movement actually wants to censor you. 9 2

The downfall of society is imminent if we don't let the richest man on Earth have complete control of one of the largest media companies in the world. This is about free speech and censorship! …Also, if you use the Latin word for "the same side" (cis), you may be permanently banned - because Elon's trans daughter hates him. That censorship is different though because I like it. Edited September 1 by Both Sides Now 2

Popular Post liquiddiamonds Posted September 1 Popular Post Posted September 1 (edited) Some of y'all are so stupid. Censorship???? We have freedom of expression in Brazil. We can literally criticize anything and anyone, from politicians to celebrities; we have access to anything on the internet, from any country. We are basically allowed in every countries with very few visa restrictions. Piracy happens in high levels here exactly because our networks are not micromonitored by the government Twitter is one single social media; one single website. We haven't lost an iota of our rights because of it or Elon Musk. Just memes and porn. People literally entered our government buildings and destroyed them over fake news also spread on Twitter and spread things to undermine our democracy. We, brazilians, don't ******* care about them or their data. This will only fuel Bolsonaro's discourse for the conservatives in the coming September 7th (our independence day). They want to be persecuted so bad. But the truth is that they tried to stage a coup and they failed and the people involved need to serve their time for it. I'm happy we are being very serious about it, since we already overcame a right wing dictatorship in our history lol BTW We have free elections the comin weeks and they won't say a word when right wing candidates take over some of the major cities. That's how selective this whole lack of freedom of speech discourse works these days. Those people wanna paint us as a tyrannical country so bad just because they lost an election after almost ten years governing with underwhelming results Edited September 1 by liquiddiamonds 5 20

I can't with people calling it a censorship when our Supreme Court was trying to contact them for DAYS. It wasn't like Alexandre de Moraes waked up in a bad mood and decided to block Twitter lol. and Elon Musk not only ignored the contact but also fired everyone from Twitter Brasil thinking that, doing this, Twitter would be unreachable by brazilian laws. I really hope Brazil serious law applications serve as an example for Europe, Canada and every other country facing the same problems with Elon Musk' stupidity. Edited September 1 by starsailor 3 1
