The only thing that can be questioned here is Alexandre de Moraes (A brazilian supreme court judge) doing it solo for now But as soon as the whole supreme court vote it there's nothing to question about this decision... there are profiles spreading fake news, they ordered Musk to delete it, he didn't, so.... what else can we do? accept that a company rule is bigger than our law? and that's coming from someone that hate that we won't have X anymore. Just now, Patient Zero said: True. But Felon is always trying to "overstep" everyone. Just because he has unlimited funds doesn't make him indestructible. So I'm glad he's getting humbled by this. This is not an overstepping by the Brazilian Supreme Court, they just told him to follow the rule of law in the country, and he didn't comply. Also this is after Elon threw a hissy fit and closed operations in the country, the Supreme Court told Twitter (X) that for it to keep doing business in Brazil they needed to appoint a legal representative in the country, they failed to do that, therefore it was suspended. Twitter was not complying with hate speech, misinformation and election interference laws. It's also very interesting he is doing this with the Global South, look at how he's dealing with Bolivia, too, however he's happy to comply with requests from countries from the Global North and not throw a tantrum. 11

Again I can agree Twitter has become a cesspool, but it is things like this that I consider massive overstepping and scary censorship by the government. 2

brazil Posted August 30 Posted August 30 The way he thinks he's above the law and tried to dismiss Brazil's rule of law. I hope X stocks continue to tumble and they close off this social media once and for all. Imagine him paying billions to own something that will be useless. Sweet revenge. 1

This is not overstepping. To operate somewhere you need to comply with the law of said place. This is how it works anywhere. He repeated failed to comply with court orders and legal requirements. Corporations need to understand they're not above law. 5

If the state isn't the most powerful entity in a country, what should be? The idea that multinationals should have more power than countries is dystopian. Tech companies aren't neutral. They're entities owned and managed by oligarchs whose class interests are many times directly opposed to the countries they operate in (see: Musk's alleged involvement in the Bolivian coup). I can understand people's apprehension of the state (especially in a capitalist society), but corporations aren't people. Just because they were marketed to us as "freedom-loving" and "progressive" in the 00s, it doesn't make them inherently good. A capitalist in a hippie costume is still a capitalist. OT: Big tech should be expropriated, nationalized and democratically run. Edited August 31 by Virgos Groove 9
