Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry are very similar in that they released their music at fairly long intervals (on average, 4 years between albums).

 

While releasing their sixth studio albums (Head Above Water, 143), both singers faced the commercial failure of the previous release and difficulties regarding their mental well-being.

 

Each of the singers decided to reflect these changes in the comeback songs in their own way. Moreover, both songs took identical positions on the Billboard Hot 100: No. 63 and No. 64. 

 

• "Head Above Water", No. 64 on Hot 100, 17 years in career.

• "Woman's World", No. 63 on Hot 100, 16 years in career.

Avril, obviously… Aside from their chart performances these songs are not even comparable

I mean Avril's was an emotional comeback detailing her struggles with Lyme Disease and recieved critical acclaim

 

Katy Perry's was a Barbie movie reject universally panned

 

Apart from the chart positions and career lengths, they're incomparable on so many levels imo!

As much as that Avril album gets shitted on, the title track, Birdie and Devil are amazing songs

Woman's World is classic Katy, while Head Above Water was sonically disappointing, especially considering her great material prior. And it didn't hit like it should have despite the story behind the song. I mean it's still a good song, but yeah.
