Katy Perry has never been a critic darling, with her previous albums receiving Metacritic scores of 47, 52, 61, 53, and 58 respectively. However, the press has been particularly harsh this era, thanks in no small part to Katy's decision to return to Dr Luke. Do you think 143 could earn the lowest Metacritic score of the year, under Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign's Vultures 2 with 42?

Kanye's music is bad and he has the worst reputation right now, it'll be hard to get lower than 42. Most criticism is overly positive these days folks don't get PANNED fr like they used to.

Critics are less harsh on pop girls now, but her reputation's never been worse (reference intended) and I don't think critics are THAT afraid of Katycats, so it'll probably even out and she'll remain in her 50-ish average.

Not like it means much. They will be reviewing her image and producer and not the quality of the album. 

 

Even Smile and Witness did marginally better than Teenage Dream and One of the Boys. Does anyone think Smile and Witness deserve better scores than TD and OOTB?

Judging by the outdated generic Ava Max rejected B-side turds she dropped that sound like they were written by AI, absolutely. 

 

Hopefully that will inspire her to make pop rock and accustic singer-songwriter album as a follow-up and start getting critical acclaim
