KatyPrismSpirit Posted August 14 Posted August 14 It's her first global #1 hit on the Global Billboard 200 and is about to surpass a billion streams in about a month. Will also rise to top 5 on the Hot 100 next week (possibly future #1 there as well) The song's lyrical content has a broad relatability and it's simplistic production and straightforwardness make it easy to listen to. Is it about to be Billie's signature song? 1 2
CherryBay Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) I don't think is going to be as big and recognisable as Bad Guy but it could be her biggest ballad I mean at this point it will be considering how well is being received Edited August 14 by CherryBay 1
Gelato Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I think so. Both are great songs but Birds of a Feather has a timeless quality while Bad Guy is more of its time 4
lustforyou Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Too early to tell imo. Billie is such a "unique" case because she gets huge numbers and hits, but there never seems to be any that stand out as her major defining song On one hand it's easy to say bad guy is her defining song because it had huge numbers….but, it seems mostly forgotten by the GP compared to her other songs (I don't have the recurrent streams maybe I'm totally wrong) and it's not a cult favorite among her fans, so it'd be hard to call that her signature Lovely and When The Party's Over have had insane longevity on Spotify and are streaming SMASHES but no one offline knows them. Which most people are online lol but I mean like the 40+ range I'd say rn, it comes down to What Was I Made For and Happier than Ever as her signature songs, depending how you define that term. What Was I Made For was in a huge movie, won a ton of major awards, was a certified big hit across all formats and ages, and I believe has had good recurrent streams. But, it's not attached to an album and appeals more to the GP than her fan base l. Happier Than Ever is unique, showcases Billie's artistry the best (and both of her styles), is the cult fav among her fan base, and was a decent hit, but it wasn't a smash among the GP. I feel like Birds of a Feather is gonna come up short to What Was I Made For in the end. Maybe if it gets to #1, but that seems a long shot to me. Shaboozey is still strong, Sabrina's new album could have a good 4 u on it based off her current hype, Good Luck Babe is ascending fast, etc 5
PerfectCure Posted August 14 Posted August 14 The song has such a beautiful melody and so many sweet hooks but is ruined by the borderline gruesome lyrics. Maybe it can become her signature hit in the countries without English as their main language but a love song mentioning being dead and buried doesn't sound like a future classic to me.
Wonderland Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I feel like it's already heading in that direction tbh. Bad Guy is the only competition but I get the feeling that BOAF will be used more in pop culture moments/TV shows in the future which will help it to be remebered in the long term. 2

The difference between the lyrics and the vibe is part of the appeal It's a love song told in a different narrative than the typical "I love you so much, you make me smile, you make me happy" type of ****. 5 1

Don't get me wrong lol I really like the song. But the first verse is too in your face in my opinion, it could have maintained its edge with other lyrics as well 1
needs Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Yeah I mean for someone who people say isn't much of a hitmaker Billie has quite a few impactful hits. But I can sense that this one is gonna be HUGE, especially going into fall & winter.
Robburro Posted August 14 Posted August 14 BOAF makes me wonder how big i love you would've been if she gave the same support tbh having almost 1bi streams without being a single is absurd 3

MardinBeksloy Posted August 14 Posted August 14 It will be her most streamed song ever, deservingly so, but Bad Guy will still be her biggest hit.
QuanticXplosion Posted August 14 Posted August 14 It is such a great song. Deserves but to me it will always be between Happier Than Ever, What was I made for and Everything I Wanted.
Devin Posted August 14 Posted August 14 bad guy will remain her signature song. BOAF is another hit/career highlight. much like bey signature is crazy in love but single ladies, irreplaceable, formation are highlights. 1
Pheromosa Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Doubtful. Bad Guy is still the song that comes to mind first
