Because.....part of her concept/storyline is a girl who doesn't know who she is and finds out that she's gay and loves drag. She is literally doing drag. GaGa was dressing up in the weirdest **** too and she made POP music. Chappell's visual identity actually fits her music too.

 

She's a breath a fresh air into the music scene right now. Isn't this site always complaining about how boring pop girls are and how they miss the 00s? If you want cute/sexy/boring outfits, you still have Sabrina (nothing against her).

Why does the music need to be directly tied to the physical style? I think what's so refreshing about Chappel is that she makes fun music and also has fun with the way she dresses. Not everything has to be part of some super calculated branding identity campaign that screams manufactured.

She released her EP in like what... 2017? But no one cared, because she was just like anyone else. Then she started wearing colorful things and suddenly became popular. It's pretty simple - if you stand out it's easier to achieve success.
