Whenever I hear Charli's 365, especially the outro, I am reminded of this album. Truly a visionary and pioneer album :WAP:

M.I.A.'s impact in the music scene and culture is super underrated. She is THE blueprint, the OG, the GOAT. Even her worst album (AIM) washes careers.

I thought about this album the first time I heard Brat. It's not exactly comparable, but there's elements that really are.

The first album that came to my mind after listening to it for the first time was SOPHIE's ´OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES'.

oh YES 100% :jonny3: SUCH a phenomenal album holy sh*t, and just as good as the two which preceded it! I'll never understand the criticism of it, it's fantastic the whole way through and every bit as meaningful as her first two albums. and THE BORN FREE MUSIC VIDEO??? she was such a visionary back then :jonny5:

re: similarities to Brat… i'd personally compare Brat to Supernature by Goldfrapp first and foremost, but in terms of hyperpop in the grand scheme of things, YES MAYA absolutely toyed with it most prominently in the first 11 years of the decade :clap3:
