Just a Gay on ATRL Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Taylor honestly was the it girl of 3 of the 4 finished years of the 2020s so far - she had the cultural interest in a chokehold. Even though TTPD is dominating the charts I simply don't feel like she's the it girl of 2024, though. 2020: Taylor Swift 2021: Olivia Rodrigo 2022: Taylor Swift 2023: Taylor Swift 2024: it's too early to say but I think it's going to be either Chappell or Sabrina. Leaning towards Chappell rn, since like half of her album is charting. We have yet to see how Sabrina's album will do so that could change things.

The poll is asking who's the it girl of 2024. You have one of the girls in the poll whose music in 2024 has been listened to and bought by people more times than all the other poll options combined. And we're still trying to make a case that she doesn't feel like the biggest? Ok! Edited August 13 by The Music Industry 1
BrentB Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Y'all she's IT. Your faves' team is booking an IMPROMPTU meeting ATM at the label head office. This could kill a career 1 2 1
SleepNoMore Posted August 13 Posted August 13 It was Charli, then switched to Sabrina. And now it's Chappell.
CandleGuy Posted August 13 Posted August 13 The poll has it right so far. 1. Charli - When we look back on 2024, it will be remembered for 'brat summer'. 2. Chappell - Would be #1 if not for Charli. Obviously the breakout star of the year. 3. Sabrina - Cute hits, not sure about her staying power but she's had a great year. 4. Taylor - Is still dominating but it's become monotonous, 2023 was her year and she's still riding that wave.
Johnny Jacobs Posted August 13 Posted August 13 It's the year of flops and i loves it. Sabrina. There is no other answer
fridayteenage Posted August 13 Posted August 13 the one with (as of next week) multiple ten-week top 10 hits.
Arrows Posted August 13 Posted August 13 They're all it-girls right now, who says there can only be one?

Blackout2006 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Honestly, it's so hard to pick, this has probably been the most fun year musically since 2020 but I think it's like really between Sabrina, Billie, and Charli.
thatsmydemi Posted August 13 Posted August 13 It's so weird how Sabrina has smashed hard yet her success doesn't feel that big for some reason. Chappel, on the other hand, keeps growing and getting bigger and we keep getting articles about her rise to stardom, massive festival crowds, etc. Idk but Chappel is lowkey stealing Sabrina's thunder. Sabrina's album drop may change this. The album will do some huge numbers probably. 1
Cain Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Charli, Chappell and Sabrina are the obvious 'breakout' stars of the year, they're everywhere Billie and Taylor are the big established artists of the year Overall an amazing year for women 2 2
laqqinq Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I'd say Sabrina and Charli. Chappell is one of the biggest breakout stars this year but idk why does not feel or it does not feel like she's currently an 'it' girl in the mainstream. Billie has one of the biggest hits and one of the most commercially/critically successful albums of this year but like someone said, she is not a breakout/breakthrough star. I think usually the breakout ones are the 'it' ones. Billie feels more of an already established new MPG who made a great comeback to the top tier of pop stardom this year. She was the 'it' girl of 2019, after or along with Ariana Grande tbh. Taylor is the most successful act of the last year and this year (maybe even this whole decade so far) but she was more IT last year with the Eras Tour and Swiftmania and other stuff. Yes, she's still the megaceleb of pop but not it in the sense of breakout or what's new and hot. Rather hot and happening. Like in a more established way rather than a new rising star way. Last year was more of the catapultment to top again.

Sabrina of course is popular because of the big push from Taylor and her new album will help extend her popularity.
georgechxng Posted August 13 Posted August 13 (edited) i'd say chappell and charli. especially chappell. she feels very onipresent atm with like 7 songs blowing up and her streak of festival performances always going viral. sabrina is kinda being overshadowed by the two of them + billie. UnusualBoy Posted August 13 Posted August 13 It's either Chappell or Sabrina with Charli following behind.
Ewan Chaos Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Feels like Chappell. She's got both the hits and general GP hype (I'd say Sabrina has more of the former & not soooo much of the latter whereas Charli is slightly the opposite). I'd put Charli next because she's also starting to also get her songs moving into hit territory especially with the Guess remix. Then Sabrina just based on Espresso, PPP & her older songs. I think if Sabrina had her Nonsense viral stuff going on this year too she'd be more in the mix, but that was more of a 2023 thing. Though if she gets another hit and her album does really well, might prop her up more. TBH I'd probably pick all 3 though. Taylor & Billie are obviously right behind (and probably equally) but I feel like IT girls are, usually, the next big thing not established artists.
