Popboi. Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Very much the entirety of **** Pop Miami would like a word 5 5
Moonlight Nation Posted August 12 Posted August 12 It's beyond corporate and soulless with its cheap nostalgia-bait, but Guetta's "Baby Don't Hurt Me" from last year felt more insulting to me. As far as 2024 hit singles go, I found "CARNIVAL" and "Gata Only" significantly worse and more disturbing content-wise (as well as both sounding awful all-around). Eminem's "Houdini" is thoroughly tired and uninspired. Not to mention non-hits like Katy Perry's dreadful "Woman's World". 3
Erreur2 La Nature Posted August 12 Posted August 12 It can't be worst than Jojo Siwa's Karma or Minaj's Big Foot, 1
Alldeezy Posted August 12 Posted August 12 it's not that awful there are a LOT worse songs out there 1
modeblock Posted August 12 Posted August 12 YES, I heard it randomly on Spotify and thought it was some unknown ripping off the original global classic, only to just now find out it's Ryan Tedder and David Guerra WHAT is that $0.002 sounding intrumental? With the AI'd lyrics
aesthetic bih Posted August 12 Posted August 12 It's complete generic and soulless but it's a quarter bop 2

Another strong contender for worst of 2024. As for "Karma", I think the widespread mockery was directed more at Siwa's cringe try-hard antics + rollout rather than the song itself, which I find to be a serviceable campy pop bop all things considered. The original version by Britt Smith, produced by Timbaland, allows the song to reach its full potential, but even Siwa's recording is at worst just the Kidz Bop version of the original. 2

I don't like the song but it's way more catchier than that Guetta song. The sample is tired & annoying.
blown away Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Big Foot is worse. It must be said though that David Guetta's recent music has been pure shite. He's always relying on cheap interpolations, basically making cover versions of the originals. 1
alexrex Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Tbh Im sick and tired of these uninspired songs that are basically made off samples. They don't elevate the songs in any way, they just try to replicate what worked before. I'm under the impression there is a creativity crisis in media. Many remakes of movies, series and music. Like stop with the nostalgia. Can you come up with something else ? 1
makeawish Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I feel like guetta's central insight over the last few years has been that if dance music hasn't really changed that much since the 90s then he can generate a steady income from just recycling the tunes as well. Naturally this is bad but also, it does free him up for his central project of ending all forms of prejudice and bringing about world peace, so there is a net gain from lazy ass songs like I don't wanna wait that cannot be ignored
B-Luke Posted August 12 Posted August 12 At least the beat has a redeeming quality to it in that it sounds like a 2010 Guetta throwback. There were way worse tracks released this year. 2

It's not what you'd expect from Ryan Tedder, who is a pretty famous songwriter. But as a song it's fine. Not very good, not that bad. We had more actively bad songs this year. 3
Breathless Mahoney Posted August 12 Posted August 12 There are so many bad songs out this year, it's hard to pick one. But this one definitely enters the list. For a while now David Guetta has only been releasing horrible cheap remakes of past hits. 1
ThehushSound Posted August 12 Posted August 12 When I saw the title I was expecting a Paula Cole sample came in saw David Guetta and Onerepublic and got really confused, played the track and was horrified/relieved it was a O-zone sample. Worst track idk. But definitely one of the most generic tracks dropped this year. You know if it's a David and Onerepublic collab it's going to be whitewashed, whitewash. 1

Raphy23 Posted August 12 Posted August 12 It's kind of harmless. It's a flop in my country but if it (rarely) comes on the radio I won't change it. 1
Soda Pop Queen Posted August 13 Posted August 13 not me coming in here expecting to see the Paula Cole song and was wondering if it's been charting again all these years later due to some kind of tiktok trend. I'll see myself out.
