No but I'm very jealous. Reading glasses give me a headache or a runny nose so I never wear them, and contacts are slowly killing my eyesight :deadbanana2:

While the risk of serious side effects or damage are still relatively low, they are much higher than other medical procedures. I'm not sure that I want to risk it.

I planned on getting it some years ago, until a friend of mine had it done and said they were getting a halo of white light around certain objects.

Look it up if you don't know.

"the halos and glare you see after LASIK will not go away for about two to three weeks. However, it is common for you to see the halos and glare for a month after the LASIK surgery or possibly even longer than this"

hiii so i decided to do some research about LASIK 'cause it's an interesting topic, at least for me.

Basically you are only gonna feel a bit of pressure in your eye at some points throughout the surgery, but usually the whoever is doing the surgery also gives you anaesthetic eye drops that numb the pain.

If you are still not convinced, you can ask the doctor for a sedative. Although the surgery has you awake for it, accidentally blinking or moving your eyes is not that big of a deal. Losing your vision completely and any other negative side effect are EXTREMELY rare so do not worry about that !!

But in seriousness, i've got a great highly qualified surgeon doing my surgery and i'm going to a very reputable place here in the UK.

In all seriousness, you will be more than fine. I know various people who have gotten it and nothing went wrong. Let us know how it goes!

A colleague of mine had it done and he regretted it so much, he experienced abnormal amounts of dryness after LASIK, to the point of his eyes always been crusty and sensitive and therefore more prone to infections. He said that he basically gets conjuctivitis at least 6 times a years just from exisisting and will forever have to use eyedrops multiple times a day until he dies, and he's still in his 20s. :deadbanana2:

I would cancel the appt if I were you and I'm not kidding.

I've been radicalized on tiktok to be afraid of this procedure due to testimonials from patients who have unexplained persistent burning eye pain that even drove that one news anchor to suicide

You see a lot of eye doctors and surgeons wearing glasses themselves. Ask why tbh

If this is merely to get rid of the hassle of wearing or glasses or contacts ask if its worth such a risk

I did. Best decision ever! I don't know where you are based but maybe it would be smarter to wait for the winter.

I am sorry but this is so dumb. There are lots of doctor who smoke or drink excessively. Does it make them healthy?

i would never :biblio:
you need to look into what happens when it goes wrong, which it does more than people think. permanent eye pain, dryness, other/new vision problems... not worth the risk with such an important and delicate part of your body.

Everyone I know in real life that has had it said it is the best thing they've ever done...

OP, consider IOL implants rather than Lasik.
