SweetTalker Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Although there are definitely some tracks that could've stayed in outer orbit, Chromatica wasn't that bad. Some of the best songs from the last 10 years of her career are in that album. Was everybody being too harsh on Ms Gaga? Has the recent musical output by our MPGs made you rethink your stance on this album? 2 15 1 3
Hexchromatica Posted August 11 Posted August 11 It's my username and I don't even play it much anymore save Replay. Amazing at the time though, got me through the pandemic 1
Roberto Posted August 11 Posted August 11 It's her most consistent album, tbh. A true masterpiece. 8 6 1
Ethereaaal Posted August 11 Posted August 11 (edited) You're acting as if Chromatica was a panned bomb when it wasn't… so no. Deserves better current streams though, but who knows, it might have its Born This Way moment too. Edited August 11 by Ethereaaal 8 1
loveisdead9582 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I mean, it could've been supported more but you're acting like it was a total bomb. I still listen to some of the songs from it myself. 2
FrederickGa Posted August 11 Posted August 11 The overreaction from haters and little monsters who expected something different are laughable cause yeah CHROMATICA is EXCELLENT 7 1 1
GraceRandolph Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Yes ATRL gays shat on Chromatica for no reason. Even Joanne is a solid body of work, and added dimension to Gaga's discography. 4 7
Twizzy Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Apology no.. the album did quite well for a popstar who was in her mid 30s by then. If anything, it deserves some flowers at the very least. Chromatica gets too much hate for what it really was, a cohesive and well put together project with a concept. That's very difficult to find in pop music today. 7
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted August 11 ATRL Moderator Posted August 11 Chromatica was fine. The songwriting was really good, her vocals sounded fantastic and the visuals/concept were on point. The main thing that let it down was the production....which was watered down and probably the most "on trend" she's ever sounded. She talked about how she was in such a bad place mentally, she basically had to be dragged into the studio and I guess she just let it all out in the lyrics/vocals but didn't get quite as involved in the production as she normally does, and it shows. The demos (Free Woman mainly) hinted at something much better with a little more edge, and it's a shame that the final product was watered down. The remix album shows a lot of where the album could have gone...the crazy, balls to the wall energy really gives the whole thing an extra spark. So yeah, it's a solid album! Not her best work but there's nothing bad on it. 5 2
Gladiator Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Chromatica was on repeat in my house for months. I don't owe her anything. Was a big fan. 2
SharGaga Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I honestly don't think anyone thinks Chromatica is a bad album lol. Yes it was Gaga's most sanitized album and she didn't coproduce the record but even when she didn't want to make music she still made a good one imo. I for one played it on a loop during covid. 3 3
Happylittlepunk Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Nah chromatica ended up winning I the end anyway. The album sounds amazing live and she delivered on tour. It will end up like born this way in the future. Greatly appreciated. 4
camilacabelloslaps Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I still listen to my faves, fun tonight went off
Princessa Posted August 11 Posted August 11 (edited) Truly a life saving album throughout the pandemic. And I for one enjoy that we got a nice clean, polished-production album from her, simply because we hadn't had that shiny, non-risqué production from her since... ever. It was a first, and a nice jewel in her album lineup because of that. I always wanted a pure-pop album from Gag. Edited August 11 by Princessa 1 1
Onyxmage Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Actually Gaga owes US an apology for not releasing anything half as good as The Fame or BTW since 2011. ENOUGH. 5 1
Brooklyn Baby Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Yes. Gaga, I'm sorry that your creativity and artistry peaked in your first three years. 5
Funnyfatty Posted August 11 Posted August 11 The album is excellent. The haters are just dumb and loud like always No one can make me believe that an album with Alice, Replay, 911, Rain On Me, Babylon, Free Britney and Sine From Above is bad. Sour candy is a BIG FAT SMASH that had no chance of being a single because of the pandemic. It had already above 1 billion views on youtube if it had a video Its her BEST album. Even tracks that i didn't go crazy for has above 400 plays on my lastfm. Thats how good it is. + mid songs like FT Enigma got a huge uograde thanks to the remix album. Even SFA is a 10/10 thanks to the remix. Sure it will be appreciated one day. 1 1
Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted August 11 Posted August 11 In theory, it had all the potential to be a classic, but in practice, it was just Gaga chasing trends, releasing whatever she could, and hoping something would stick. The fact that many tracks felt like leftover Kim Petras demos only made it worse. No, we don't owe Gaga an apology. 1
itsnotaegg Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Chromatica might be a safe album by gaga's standards, but it's still a great pop album. I expect her to stop holding back for LG7 though
superben Posted August 11 Posted August 11 It's an awful album, but at least it's better than Joanne.
