Why is ATRL obsessed with hating on Katy Perry?

Not only has this entire era been catastrophic from the jump, what's even funnier is that the second Kats realized things were going south quick after the confirmation of Luke's involvement, they lost the plot so hard and immediately started attacking and misplacing their anger on other female artists when their own fave dug her own grave of her career with that so-called "risk".

And you think we're supposed to sit back quietly as we watch this panned bomb of epic proportions unfold? Nope. Every single lashing is warranted. And keep the meltdowns coming, they're very entertaining!

All of this. They certainly can and have dished it out over the years, in much worse fashions over stuff MUCH more trivial. Katy and her Kats deserve every single lashing they're getting and more.

An album with the lead single having 600 million streams is a flop? It is an underperformance for her standards, yeah,  but still doing better than anything Katy released the past decade. 143 (the entire album) will be extremely lucky to reach Training Season's (a song) total streams, worry about that :suburban:

The way you're acting like 600M streams is not a flop for Dua yet ignoring Never Really Over and Harleys in Hawaii. Haters and their mental gymnastics will never not be funny

According to you Smile is a flop and NRO has 700million streams, get your act straight honey

radical optimism won't even outperform Smile lmao what are you talking about

the way Dua went from her "TD era" straight to her Smile era:suburban:

Reading the thread and I really forgot GaGa willingly recorded a video where she simulated a rape with R Kelly. :toofunny3:

And cancelled the video before it came out. If only other artists had the same awareness, maybe their career wouldn't be dead.

Forget the haters, you Katy clowns are the best at setting up Katy. Instead of sitting down and eating humble pie, you guys are doubling down on justifying against the VERY apparent fact that Katy's career circling down the drain and much worse, you guys are in denial that IT WAS HER OWN DOING :skull:

She's a terrible artist and a terrible person, what is there to love about her?

After seeing her throw pizza slices into a crowd I must admit, she deserves the hate.

She's a clown who is literally constantly missing the mark. It's too easy to hate on her

It's not an obsession per se. Mostly the drags keep coming because even after Katy went back to working with an alleged rapist and known misogynist on a female empowerment anthem in desperation for a hit and even after she completely fumbled it, most of her stans refuse to condemn her actions, instead some even went as far as to spread fake news on social media about a supposed contract with Dr. Luke that Katy was supposedly locked into. :toofunny2:

Internet gays love to tear people (especially women :eli:) down, and in Katy's case there are legitimate criticisms. I still think people are overdoing it though - after a certain point hating on someone just becomes free promo.

Something about everyone hating on her makes her that much more endearing. Y'all are such bandwagoners, following the trend, going with the grain. It's so boring. Obvi Katy's new music is mid as hell but it's also perfectly acceptable pop music. It's not like she released a "Perfect Illusion" sized mess

You're right, because she released a Woman's World sized mess. :suburban:

And followed it up with a Lifetimes sized disaster that will likely be the final nail in the coffin for her commercial career for the rest of, well, her lifetime. :suburban:

I don't think there is any hate bandwagon at all. True hate bandwagons are pretty obvious like JoJo Siwa's or Rebecca Black's. Or even Britney in 2007, since hating on her and trying to make her life hell was deemed profitable and entertaining. Maybe Justin Bieber would also qualify at some point.

Katy has just as many people that love her and still do as people that are vocal about how upset they are. If you find a random reel on YouTube about her talking about Daisy all the comments will be about how good she looks and how endearing/funny she is.

This is just a case of a string of bad decisions and people (mostly pop fans) tuning in and rightfully questioning her. Nobody hates on Katy to fit in really.

its because she keeps flopping but the music is bad too. :deadbanana2:

Honestly do people really hate her? I thought they just hated that she, as a pretty powerful artist chose to work with a rapist and on top of that the song sucked and she made the mistake of trying to do the faux-deep-maybe-ironic schtick like she did with Chained To The Rhythm and once again, it didn't land.

nah hun, some of these ppl are literally foaming at the mouth, they literally stayed in the whole weekend away from their imaginary friends just to trash this song and make threads about Katy. It's bad sis, it's real real bad.

Only atrl? She's not liked anymore. Her time's been up for a decade.

Her working with him would obviously draw criticism but I don't think that's the reason she's tanking bc TD is literally currently charting on the BB200. You can't claim your morals don't align with her decisions in 2024 and at the same time think it's ok to stream her back catalogue unless you're a performative clown. In which case, do you I guess.

Simply put, ATRL "hates" her bc she put out bad songs that inevitably flopped.

I like you as much as I like Katy. That's all I will say.

i know people love Teenage Dream but i wish she would have kept up with the sound from One of the Boys and for that, i hope she continues to flop!

I agree with the bolded. Partly in in the last part.

I recently learned the term "lolcow." And I think that applies here. Lets not confuse hate for Katy with love for Kesha. A lot of the same ATRLers were dragging Kesha left and right in her last era. I even remember seeing a couple say she should "go back to Dr. Luke." So no, I don't believe majority of ATLRs have the moral high ground, this just use the Dr. Luke thing as ammunition.
