Why is ATRL obsessed with hating on Katy Perry?

let's also not forget that not only she vocally supported him, but also made a video where he violates her while she's seemingly under drugs on a surgical table. To top it all, she only removed the song for an oscar campaign about sexual assualt 6 YEARS later

The deflecting ? Gaga did it and is wrong. That doesn't make Katy right….

I don't think it's an obsession, most of ATRL (and social media) was on Katy's side earlier this year.

People were nostalgic for Teenage Dream and OOTB

According to you Smile is a flop and NRO has 700million streams, get your act straight honey

After what? Half a decade. Of course is gonna reach that milestone, eventually. Houdini has 600 Million after 10 months.

3. Teenage Dream is still out-streaming most of ATRL's fave's albums (some of which are barely scraping 1 million daily streams despite being released this year):gayoncecat3:

An album with the lead single having 600 million streams is a flop? It is an underperformance for her standards, yeah,  but still doing better than anything Katy released the past decade. 143 (the entire album) will be extremely lucky to reach Training Season's (a song) total streams, worry about that :suburban:

The way y'all comparing Katy's sixth album with Dua's third is not the drag you think it is :suburban:

Katy fans doing the whole "Gays are misogynistic blah blah blah" when we know they're lashing other pop girls up and down this forum. But oh no poor Katy, a few gays on the internet calling her a flop, what an awful thing to do

It actually is. She chose to work with a producer knowing that she could get potential backlash. Did the risk pay off? We will see with 143 but artists have to take risks sometimes. And the material not being good is subjective.

wow this might be the worst bad faith argument I've ever seen, trying to paint a despicable action as respectable because it's a risk? Not all risks are good love

just say you're mad the other thread backfired and move on

This is a site about corporate pop music, specifically from female artists. One of the biggest female artists in that realm is shitting the bed on all fronts and you don't want anyone to discuss it here? :rip:

Pretty much this. It's not rocket science s:wan:

Of course it doesn't, but crucifying Katy for something your fave did not once but three times (and worse) is called hypocrisy, and I have the right to point it out :heart2:

That is not the only time she worked with a rapist. She currently has 2 on her team, one being her choreographer the other one working in her makeup team.

So you're telling me Katy won't erase the music she did with a r****t like Gaga did, there's no comparison point, stop bringing her up, thanks :heart2:

This has to be the dumbest take I have ever seen on here lmao

By this logic all songs will reach 1 billion streams therefore no albums are flops :ahh:

According to monster logic if Katy apologizes she will be ok and we can forget about everything.

Idk but I'm sure she won't hire a rapist as a choreographer and makeup artist after doing a whole campaign about sexual assault for the Oscars :heart2:

Yes! Don't you know you can work with a CONVICTED pedophile and rapist, make a song together, hump him on national TV in front of millions of people, publicly defend him on social media, film a semi-pronographic video where he puts you to sleep to abuse you, but later on say « uwu I'm sorry plz forgive me <3 » and everything is alright!

don't forget hiring abusers within your crew and refusing to let go of them because why not :heart2:

He's literally the producer of basically all of her hits. It's not a risk to go back to him, she did it because she wanted to go back on top like during TD/PRISM. She just chose to ignore her morals but that's not taking a risk.

If she wanted a guaranteed hit she could've jumped on the Jack Antonoff train. Putting aside your opinions on Luke, working with him in this climate is an extreme PR risk. Doja worked with him and then had to immediately release a PR'd apology.

Katy weighed up the risks and rewards of working with him. Whether you think that paid off is another matter.

ATRL barely stans any of those artists, aside from Nicki and Kim, which had their respective outrage threads at their respective times :giraffe:
