young & beautiful 6x platinum

okay

You're proving my point lol

Young & Beautiful is 6x Plantinum and yet peaked at #22 on BILLBOARD which is what I was saying.

Again, the point was that her "hits" don't carry her numbers and her singles have little to no impact on her success.

Lana's not a legend and will never be 1.

Using this logic, artists like Dua and Demi are legends too.

Not this payola'd mess being compared to Lana's ORGANIC success :ahh:

What are you saying?

High by the beach was a #7 peaking smash hit.

her most streamed songs on spotify are literally mostly the multi platinum hits from her album that has charted on billboard for like 10 years

focusing on a billboard chart peak for what's a hit is silly when some of the most beloved classics and well known hits didn't peak high on billboard at all

its very stan brained and delusional, and acting like lana doesn't have hits is just silly

Dua's music gets pushed constantly on pop streaming playlists and radio stations, when did that happen for Lana?

Have Dua and Demi also had this many artists calling their work inspirational or influential?

how are video games, born to die, blue jeans, summertime sadness and young & beautiful not huge hits ? :rip:

even songs like doin time, say yes to heaven, west coast or stargirl interlude are all huge streaming hits ?

they're just not conventional cookie cutter radio hits like most of the other girls mentioned but these couple songs alone have billions of streams and are known by many many people, young and old ?

okay

1 was remixed and the other one wasn't even on an album of hers. Plus, they're over 10 years old and she has released like 6 or 7 albums since, none of them consisting of a "hit" of this magnitude yet her streaming numbers would have you think otherwise.

Why are some of you acting like she ever had a Teenage Dream, a 1989 or a The Fame in the US? Don't act like you don't know what op is talking about.

She had 2 mainstream hits over a decade ago but was able to maintain relevancy. The question is why. Well, I think that she has unwillingly and effortlessly managed to remain "cool" even amongst the tiktok generation. The timelessness of her music being the main reason for that.

Idk why people in this thread pretend that they don't get it.

Lana has several hits tho (Almost all of the songs from BTD, and a couple of unreleased music). They just don't chart high cuz they are either not promoted as singles or unreleased in any music platforms so radio can't play it, so they are ineligible to chart. She ain't competitive nor she cares about having Top 10 hits.

I think the last time she tried to be chart-minded was with Summertime Sadness. Then, when she realized her music just isn't made for the charts, she just gave up and focused on making art

Lana makes classics, not hits. That is the most succinct answer. Nobody else is really doing that today.

lol chile Lana has hits, she just doesn't have many top 10 hits which is not unusual for the type of act she is. She leans Alternative and Alternative acts with large cult followings are always gonna be relatively well streamed, no matter what the chart positions of their singles look like on top40.

lana has hits, not chartwise but HITS

summertime sadness and video games are smash hits

but yeah she can fail to chart on hot 100 for years and still be an a-lister, not everybody has that
