Again, the point was that her "hits" don't carry her numbers and her singles have little to no impact on her success. 1

Airelinn Posted August 9 Posted August 9 What are you saying? High by the beach was a #7 peaking smash hit. 1

dumbsparce Posted August 10 Posted August 10 (edited) 2 hours ago, Material Girl said: summertime sadness 8x platinum young & beautiful 6x platinum okay 1 was remixed and the other one wasn't even on an album of hers. Plus, they're over 10 years old and she has released like 6 or 7 albums since, none of them consisting of a "hit" of this magnitude yet her streaming numbers would have you think otherwise. Why are some of you acting like she ever had a Teenage Dream, a 1989 or a The Fame in the US? Don't act like you don't know what op is talking about. She had 2 mainstream hits over a decade ago but was able to maintain relevancy. The question is why. Well, I think that she has unwillingly and effortlessly managed to remain "cool" even amongst the tiktok generation. The timelessness of her music being the main reason for that. aesthetic bih Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Lana has several hits tho (Almost all of the songs from BTD, and a couple of unreleased music). They just don't chart high cuz they are either not promoted as singles or unreleased in any music platforms so radio can't play it, so they are ineligible to chart. She ain't competitive nor she cares about having Top 10 hits. I think the last time she tried to be chart-minded was with Summertime Sadness. Then, when she realized her music just isn't made for the charts, she just gave up and focused on making art
CottageHore Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Lana makes classics, not hits. That is the most succinct answer. Nobody else is really doing that today.
Soda Pop Queen Posted August 10 Posted August 10 lol chile Lana has hits, she just doesn't have many top 10 hits which is not unusual for the type of act she is. She leans Alternative and Alternative acts with large cult followings are always gonna be relatively well streamed, no matter what the chart positions of their singles look like on top40.
blueberries Posted August 10 Posted August 10 summertime sadness and video games are smash hits but yeah she can fail to chart on hot 100 for years and still be an a-lister, not everybody has that
