Lagerfeld Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Let's look at Beyoncé's chart run: #15 - #7 - #9 - #9 - #7 - #6 - #1 - #1 - #4 - #5 Despite having 9 weeks in the top 10 of Hot 100, many stans disagree on the nature of its hit-ness. What do you think? 1 1 12
Heldenzeit Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Is this new trend of "Is ____ a faux hit" a faux-trend? 1 6

Donquizote Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Judging by how poor daily stream for that single, I have to say yes 7 6
Popboi. Posted August 9 Posted August 9 (edited) I mean, it is getting less daily streams than songs that didn't even chart in US like Padam Padam, but at the time it was charting it did perform like a proper hit. CUFF IT very much stole its thunder and then having no promo or videos or anything going on after the tour, they declined. Edited August 9 by Popboi. 3

Trent W Posted August 9 Posted August 9 A hit is a hit A #1 is a #1 A mutliweek #1 is a multiweek #1 A solo #1 is a solo #1 1

Literally all the songs you listed have good recurrent streams though… none are from the streaming era so it's not like that's making a point
wigglytuffer Posted August 9 Posted August 9 It still gets heavy gay + straight bar rotation in the UK, it definitely found its way to the GP too, the chorus is remembered, i'd say not a faux-hit at all! (Haven't even checked it's UK chart run but i think it was good?) Would probably say it's actually played a bit more than Cuff It here 1

Those songs were not released in the streaming era, sis
sunbathinganimal Posted August 9 Posted August 9 tbh yes but it went 16x platinum on the sunbathinganimal chart
ScorpiosGroove Posted August 9 Posted August 9 it's a multiple week long, multi platinum solo #1, something most of the hags y'all hype on here haven't seen since the bush administration so i'd say no 5 2
Erreur2 La Nature Posted August 9 Posted August 9 The fact so many flop songs are outstreaming it is weird, its stats are kinda tragic. It was a minor hit I guess but at least it gave Beyoncé another #1. 1
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I'm kinda surprised at how poor the daily streams are considering it was EVERYWHERE during summer 2022 where I was. They still play it on heavy rotation at clubs in Philly and everyone always goes off.
Mikeymoonshine Posted August 9 Posted August 9 People on atrl will find any excuse to say a hit song wasn't a hit. It wasn't a massive hit and it could be doing better longterm but it was still a hit. Most artists will never have a single song as big as BMS.

It's a straight woman with kids living there. She's huge in the UK.
Armani? Posted August 9 Posted August 9 It actually spent 10 weeks in the Top 10 and multiple weeks at #1 Why is this a thread? It's just not going to be a classic
AshleyLovescats887 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I do not think that it's a faux hit. It might not be streamed as much as the next hit, but I don't that indicates anything as there are so many hit songs that nowadays barely get any streams. imo a "faux hit" is one only when someone bots the streams or somehow cheats the song's way to the top, which can't be applied to "BREAK MY SOUL" tldr: stream "BREAK MY SOUL" 1
