Wikipedia can only use photos that have a free license which is why they often use bad pictures. If you know that and the new photo has the correct license, go for it! the new photo is much prettier 5

Does google allow to sort by free-to-use?
cat1867 Posted August 8 Posted August 8 That photo is from getty and so can't be used on wikipedia. getty charges people to use their photos so wikipedia doesn't allow their photos

To find royalty-free images on Google, you can use Advanced Image Search to filter images by usage rights: Go to images.google.com Click Settings at the top of the screen Select Advanced Search from the drop-down menu In the Usage rights section, select free to use or share or free to use or share, even commercially Before clicking Advanced Search, you can also filter images using other options on the screen 1

Isaiah Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Wikipedia photos are usually odd/bad photos because they need to be public domain and can't be any privatized photography
cat1867 Posted August 8 Posted August 8 but yeah that's why so many of our favs of terrible photos since so few photos have the correct license.
cat1867 Posted August 8 Posted August 8 But yea if any atrlers take a pretty photo of a star at a festival/concert, it's a good public service to upload them with a creative license.
dumbsparce Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Are regular pics from someone's instagram not royalty-free?? That explains some of the very questionable profile pics I see on wiki.
