Is "yes, and?" a faux-hit and forgotten?

The lead single from Ariana Grande's last album, which unapologetically addressed her relationship with Spongebob. I feel like despite debuting at the #1 of Hot 100, it is quickly forgotten by the general public. What do you think?

It was a poor choice but it made WCBF smashing even more impressive so

I think it is a faux hit.

This rarely happened in the digital sales era. Not even Katy Perry with "Roar" bieng the lead single could debut at #1 on the Hot 100 while being at her peak. Roar bieng one of the biggest songs of the century.

In the streaming era, it seems like there is more longetivity for hits, but the #1 debuts for big artists got boring fast.

A lot of people are trashing it but a certain user - neckless Tinashe avi  - will tell you that you are trying to twist the narrative and people never hated that song and it was a smash. When in fact it wasn't and most people didn't like it

It's not forgotten but it was frontloaded due to people checking out her comeback single but ending up disappointed. It has almost 500M streams on Spotify in less than half a year, which equals to others' moderate hits numbers.

Can you imagine how iconic it would have been if she released the boy is mine??? At the time when she was dubbed the homewrecker of the century?? :WAP:

Omg that would've been the ultimate gag:jonny:

WTF WAS HER TEAM THINKING???

Yes, it has been forgotten. Songs that cater exclusively to the LGBTQ+ community often struggle to stand the test of time. For lasting success, an artist needs to connect with a broader audience.

It was a short-lived hit because everybody was tuned in what she's gonna say after the homewrecker allegations + it's Ariana's return after 4 years. It served its purpose

Not everything has to be a classic. But it'll be an iconic single and moment for us pop stans to reminisce in 20 years. :clap3:

It would ruin her career but I LIVE at this concept. They missed big time :WAP:

I love her but I feel like that entire album is pretty much forgotten, and it's my least favorite of her albums.

It may have been an underperforming #1 in the grand scheme of things but I'm still using "yes, and?" as a clapback and that is its lasting legacy.
