Lagerfeld Posted August 8 Posted August 8 The lead single from Ariana Grande's last album, which unapologetically addressed her relationship with Spongebob. I feel like despite debuting at the #1 of Hot 100, it is quickly forgotten by the general public. What do you think? 1 7
Popular Post glitch Posted August 8 Popular Post Posted August 8 Yes it was overshadowed by the real hit We Can't Friends. A second #1 from the same era, not everyone can get those, those are hard to get 23 2 6
Kayseri Mantisi Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Don't comment on my chart, do not reply Your business is yours and mine is mine Why do you care so much whose chart I ride? Why? 4 3
Navyofbadgals Posted August 8 Posted August 8 It was a poor choice but it made WCBF smashing even more impressive so 4 2
Junipero Posted August 8 Posted August 8 (edited) I think it is a faux hit. This rarely happened in the digital sales era. Not even Katy Perry with "Roar" bieng the lead single could debut at #1 on the Hot 100 while being at her peak. Roar bieng one of the biggest songs of the century. In the streaming era, it seems like there is more longetivity for hits, but the #1 debuts for big artists got boring fast. Edited August 8 by Junipero 1
KatyPrismSpirit Posted August 8 Posted August 8 was it a faux hit? nope is it forgotton about? possibly maybe has it been completely overshadowed by the superior we can't be friends (wait for your grammys)? BIG yes 4
itshyolee Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Oh definitely. Supernatural should've been released as the lead 2
kexin Posted August 8 Posted August 8 yes OT: nobody remembers it. The way even I forgot it was released in 2024.
Kern Posted August 8 Posted August 8 A lot of people are trashing it but a certain user - neckless Tinashe avi - will tell you that you are trying to twist the narrative and people never hated that song and it was a smash. When in fact it wasn't and most people didn't like it
ariananext Posted August 8 Posted August 8 It's not forgotten but it was frontloaded due to people checking out her comeback single but ending up disappointed. It has almost 500M streams on Spotify in less than half a year, which equals to others' moderate hits numbers. 7

Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Yes, it has been forgotten. Songs that cater exclusively to the LGBTQ+ community often struggle to stand the test of time. For lasting success, an artist needs to connect with a broader audience.
aesthetic bih Posted August 8 Posted August 8 It was a short-lived hit because everybody was tuned in what she's gonna say after the homewrecker allegations + it's Ariana's return after 4 years. It served its purpose Not everything has to be a classic. But it'll be an iconic single and moment for us pop stans to reminisce in 20 years. 1
burninredhot Posted August 8 Posted August 8 I don't think even her own fans consider that a hit the amount of arianator meltdowns i saw on twitter before wcbf was released 1

JustHoran Posted August 8 Posted August 8 I love her but I feel like that entire album is pretty much forgotten, and it's my least favorite of her albums. 1
Outlaws Posted August 8 Posted August 8 I forgot about it until read it on the thread title, and then I was like... Oh, that happened
Konril Posted August 8 Posted August 8 It may have been an underperforming #1 in the grand scheme of things but I'm still using "yes, and?" as a clapback and that is its lasting legacy. 2
