DawnAnti Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Lately I've been noticing that the majority of this generation is depressed and feels stuck in their head including myself, is it because the previous ones didn't try to make it better for us to live in or as so many older people say , we're just spoiled and lazy ? I genuinely want to hear your thoughts and opinions on this topic

Aston Martin Posted August 7 Posted August 7 The rise of the fascist right in many parts of the world, continued anti-queer/anti-women/anti-minorities rhetoric being platformed by social media, everything getting more expensive, climate change, and the worst in society constantly getting away with anything. It can be a lot to process tbh 5
PoisonedIvy Posted August 7 Posted August 7 It's the combination of capitalism, the internet/media/news sensationalizing everything (literally, everything.), and undeveloped frontal lobes. 6

Honestly I think this is a huge reason. Obviously the world has gotten worse in many respects, higher concentrations of wealth and power, politics has become a joke with clowns running amok, climate change well underway with negative effects. But in the simple daily-life sense, young people and adults alike are now spending more time at home, alone, on their phones, scrolling, being manipulated by algorithms and advertisers into feeling like they lack this, that and every other thing. We're truly being controlled. There are no products or joys greater than a refreshing swim in the sea, a walk through a forest, climbing a mountain, spending time with friends, preparing gifts for those you love, meeting new people. And yet its constantly what we're compelled to turn away from, time and time again. Even "stan culture" kinda ruins music cause it makes it all about this other crap besides the "art." 8 1

Imagine prophetizing to the Lord that a "brat summer" was going to happen? He must be ready to send the floods 4

MonsterTown Posted August 7 Posted August 7 maybe because this generation is allowed to be depressed, i think mostly the one saying it like me and my friends somethimes bc this generation is also children-less... maybe in the past young parents had no time to be depressed not even talk about it 5
jrd30121994 Posted August 7 Posted August 7 The state of the world and the fear of what's to come contributes to my mental health declining massively.
Trent W Posted August 7 Posted August 7 It's the economic climate, the internet dopamine addiction and the lack of physical contact Younger people are not interacting much with the outside world as previous generations The lack money to go to clubs, trips and dating Also dating is absolutely rotten these days Tinder and Grindr destroyed relationships And if you're straight is worse these days, with gays you can at least get some horny hot men, but with girls is absolutely difficult to get laid these days
Mr_campbell Posted August 7 Posted August 7 It's genuinely social media addiction, with short-form content bombarding you with happy, sad, educational, and random videos. TikTok literally fries your brain's dopamine receptors. After a while of consuming this content, you train your brain to rely on these apps for fast dopamine. This makes things you used to find enjoyable seem boring in comparison. Get off social media, and you'll find peace. 3
