She topped the charts 2004-2011, solo and with the Black Eyed Peas, won 9 Grammys...

No one can deny her success but unfortunately when it comes to her live performances, people only remember the 2017's National Anthem disaster. Sure, that was a train wreck of a performance and it wasn't her only 'bad night' on a big stage. Her performance in the Black Eyed Peas Super Bowl or her drunk Fergalicious performance failing to deliver the iconic verses and stumbling onstage were major fails.

In my opinion, Fergie is messy, wild and fun. That's part of her X-factor. People fell in love for her wild, bold, unpredictable personality. She's not a safe artist and takes risks that sometimes pay off and sometimes fail miserably. However, when she's on top of her game she is a Star. Her voice and style is unique yet she fits into different music genres and excels in all of them. She's a rockstar, a rapper, an acoustic singer a pop star...

But... what about her actual vocal talent and stage presence? Well, as noticeable as her bad performances were she is in my opinion way better than most pop stars in the Industry as a singer and performer. She hardly uses autotune, pitch correction or background vocals live, which are the norm in almost every single performance aired on tv nowadays. She has vocal range similar to renowned singers like Demi Lovato and can carry a performance with her stage presence alone.

Here's some examples of Fergie at her best:

She shines sining Meet Me Halfway live here. That entrance, those high notes by the end!!!

Her raw voice on full display on an improvised performance with a German tv host on the guitar.

Somehow Big Girls don't Cry sounds even better than the studio version here:

Fergie premiering Fergalicious on Live tv:

As an extra: Here's a more unknown performance of Fergie doing cartwheels while singing Barracuda. Her rockstar vocals and wild stage presence are in full display here:

She was speaking in tongues, truly a multifaceted and inclusive performer, even the dead get to experience a show :clap3:

I think she's passable as a singer...kind of like Jessica Simpson. She's had so many bops though so being a proficient singer is never a requirement.

She used to have a decent voice, but she didn't take care of it since a long time

As an entertainer, she's a no

She has a very ugly vocal technique imo. It's almost as if she thinks she has Xtina type of tone when she belts when it's actually just so full of throat. (See live versions of "Finally")

The way she sang Sweet Child Of Mine at the halftime show was also excruciating.

She did have great energy with an ambiguous style though. If she drank/used drugs less she could have focused more on choreography and been one of the better performers of the 2000s. Like her singing voice isn't bad when she isn't trying too hard to sound soulful.

She can absolutely sing and perform. Her ability is there. She just makes some wild choices when it comes to using them

As a stan I will admit that she isn't the best performer, but she gave us two of the best pop albums ever so all is forgiven :ryan3:

She had the voice, but as a performer she's a mess and always tried too hard

She had the potential
