Happylittlepunk Posted August 4 Posted August 4 There is potential there but Gaga will need to actually promote and make things interesting. But I feel as a fan Gaga is past a point where she shouldn't care about charting anymore and focus on more delivering high quality music and acclaim instead. 2
By the Water Posted August 4 Posted August 4 That's a very low bar and yet I can't say it will for sure 1
Paultea Posted August 4 Posted August 4 It's hard to use brat as a comparison because they are coming from 2 different places in their careers. What does worry me is the out of place ageism that is everywhere online now that has specifically been targeting artists in their mid 30s-40s. I think that could throw off an era because it doesn't even matter if the songs are good or not, there will always be jokes/comments about them being too old now. And they oddly come from a lot of people their same age. Gaga doing acting helps with this, but I'm already preparing to see a lot of those comments and wonder if it will hinder longevity. 1
TayDuaStan Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Comparing Charli XBOX to Lady freaking Gaga… Ok… enough internet for today 2

ericcartman Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Bigger debut and maybe second week, then drop as fast as Chromatica while Brat is still top20
on the line Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I'd hope so. Brat isn't doing that well on the charts. It's popularity is centered on memes, not the music. 1 1
Nazareth Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Depends on how the songs are received and if the promotion for the album is good. I recon it will do more units overall than Brat, it's Lady Gaga after all. She'll be doing another stadium tour, so the album will probably perform around the same level as Chromatica or maybe even better. 1
hugoflegend Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Depends on how you define success. Charli last two albums hit #3 and #7 on the Billboard 200, and Gaga's last two albums both went #1. Gaga's numbers have a good chance of being better. For cultural impact it is more up in the air, Gaga could reach those heights, but it's up to how much effort she decides to put into it. Sooo, who knows?
єѕℓαм Posted August 4 Posted August 4 She's gonna have a way bigger debut that's for sure after that we'll have to wait and see but i'll definitely be enjoying Gaga's album more I couldn't get into Charli's album at all tbfh

BTW spent 4 weeks in the top 10 after debuting with 1M* so it's a NO unless she surprises us all by miraculously releasing her second most successful album. Wait I didn't know it was that frontloaded OT-No
lg6chromatica Posted August 5 Posted August 5 It'll probably have a bigger first week. Idk longevity-wise. But regardless, Lady Gaga has nothing left to prove, and if we're being petty, her peak was literally 1000x greater than anything Charli XCX has or will ever experience in her entire career. 1

Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted August 5 Posted August 5 No, I'm afraid the gay community tends to be extremely fickle and has chosen Charli XCX as their representative pop girl for the foreseeable future. Gaga is heading towards a Woman's World trajectory, if anything. 2

MadMax12 Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Depends on the music. Today, all the songs on the charts are loud and punchy. Chromatica was too compressed and watered down, but it sounds like she has a better producer with LG7 who will go all out
