It was the only Carly I could remember I believe she also had some sort of musical career (?) But miss OP got really mad about it for no reason, before realising that they couldn't even write the title correctly. And that was kinda funny
Saintlor Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Because Carly is true to herself and Charli cosplays acting like a 'cool' person (which is ironically tragically uncool) to appeal to basic social media users 1 1

UrMom Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Carly deserves her success to be honest. The Canadian Max Martin delivers VOCALS and MELODIES for days 2
Sazare Posted August 3 Posted August 3 8 minutes ago, taemin said: Carly's musical output has been declining ever since emotion side b imo. Charli is still trying new things while Carly is just doing the same thing she's been doing for almost a decade now. The Loneliest & Loveliest Time were more experimental by her standards I think it's almost entirely a marketing thing — the brat hype really was nonexistent until the album cover debuted. Von Dutch made about as much waves as the standard Charli lead but Club Classics & B2B barely generated any fanfare. 3
sweetblindness Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Carly's music is fairly safe (The Loveliest Time being the exception) and her personality isn't as magnetic as Charli's. I say this as both a huge Charli fan and a moderate fan of Carly. 1
Fitzswiftie Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Could probably happen eventually. one of the biggest songs of the year is clearly inspired by one of her deep cuts 1
ThousandMiles Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Charli is a trend setter. Carly is still stuck in 2011 or at least that's how the GP views her music.
Breakdown Posted August 3 Posted August 3 According to ATRL most of the gay scene takes drugs and Carly's music doesn't appeal to people who are frequent drug users but rather people who appreciate talent and class. 1
LittleStarmen Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Charlie sucess is a result of 10 years of niche music that now is trendy thanks to tik tok
BraveNewSeth Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I love Carly, but it's like… she completely forgot what made her successful in the first place. She built her career off of albums like Kiss and Emotion, bombastic pop albums with catchy hooks and soaring production. Nowadays she's delving further into indie pop and it's such an odd choice. She'll throw her OG fans a bone every once in awhile with songs like Now That I Found You and Talking To Yourself, but she's basically abandoned the dance pop that gave her a cult following in the first place. Compare that to Charli who has stayed consistent with her music throughout her entire career, it's not really that surprising she was able to break through into the mainstream again. 3
UnusualBoy Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Part of Brat success had to do Charli's image and the idgaf attitude of the era, something Carly severely lacks, she makes decent music but I feel she is a bit bland in terms of presence. 1
Gladiator Posted August 3 Posted August 3 idk how you can say Carly makes bad music lmao all her albums **** on Brat. 6 1 1
ICLDXU4HS Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Carly is like Swift if she was excellent instead of ****, but y'all listen to Swift instead so let's talk about that. 3
BANKS Posted August 4 Posted August 4 i think Charli is better at networking. her friendships in the music industry and musical collaborations are 2 of several things that have set her apart from Carly. 2
Into The Void Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Let's stop the Carly Rae hate bandwagon. Dedicated is an excellent album 2
dreampop Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I can't believe this thread has people dragging CRJ when we all know she is Pop Jesus… - OT: it's all about marketing. Carly's online presence is non existent while charli is more active and keeps up with the younger generation of chronically online users .. Carly drops her music and dips 6 1
ReneighIsHere Posted August 4 Posted August 4 She is not good at marketing herself/branding herself..her music and looks don't have anything that make her stand out. Also maybe she's ok with remaining a smaller artist and doesn't want to get bigger
Iceland Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Carly's personality is too vanilla for the poppers gays and the gp so they can't relate. I think she's fine being a niche artist
MatiRod Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I am on a secret mission to get Carly her "Can't Get You Out of My Head". I know she has another smash in her, I just know it. I've been writing and demo'ing stuff and want to pitch something soon to her via our label head. Chances are it won't go anywhere but I'm going to try dammit lol. 6
Digitalism Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Charlie tries really hard to be big Carly is happy being small But if emotion was released today it would have been really big. Carly is definetly benefiting from the streaming and tiktok eras.
