Sad Serenade Posted August 3 Posted August 3 It wasn't unwarranted she let Nicki shades Leigh-Anne, her former band mate and friend, laugh and never apologize. All for the promo of a song. She has received some deserved drags and many hate, for her weight or physical which is wrong. Being talented, which is something I agree with, cannot delete her messy behaviour.
katysuxx Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) The backlash was well deserved tbh. She experienced a lot, had three other close friends around her during all these years and yet she's the least cultured. JeJe, have u learned nothing?? (And not to forget the way she did the girls dirty after leaving the group) I feel like her insecurities made her too self centered while being too secure of her mediocre artistry. Wish her the best but her toxic approach will not be ignored! Spoiler She seems like this insecure stubborn teenager who's still obsessed with mainstream 00's RnB music lmao. dumbsparce Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) The criticisms regarding the pandering to the black community are completely valid but I think that's where any criticism should end. That performance that was memed to hell and back was a direct, ruthless attack on her confidence and I find it extremely hypocritical that the supposed socially aware audience the 15-30 crowd is, they didn't hesitate to ridicule someone who has spoken countless times on how online bullying affected her throughout her life. ThousandMiles Posted August 3 Posted August 3 She was vocal about her insecurities and body dysmorphia. Made a documentary about her mental struggles. She fake tanned to make herself feel better and y'all took it as blackfishing and kicked her while she was down, including the other girls. Yes it was unwarranted. 1
hindsight Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) i feel like people were always mean to her for no reason, so when she gave them some ppl just used it as an opportunity to drag her even more... Edited August 3 by hindsight 1
bwhansen Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Since that documentary she's been going for the victim narrative and people are just seeing through that now... The way she was lying through her teeth in multiple interviews talking about how no one had ever explained to her what blackfishing was and she had never heard of it before the backlash, when Leigh's entire family as well as Little Mix's team (like MNEK) went on record to say they'd been trying to educate her for two years... All I'm saying is there's a reason Perrie logged back into her dog's account she hadn't used in years just to unfollow that woman. 1

However, Leigh-Anne was quite vocal about Jesy's blackfishing and expressed her concerns about it, which is ironic considering her white best friend is essentially a Jesy lookalike, including the blackfishing. What I take issue with is her selective approach in calling people out. Yes, Jesy is guilty of many things, but when Leigh-Anne's entire circle is doing essentially the same thing, it's difficult to take her "calling out" seriously. 1
