ChooseyLover Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) Some users answering whatever rude **** for karma points or whatever they're called If you're not going to contribute to the conversation stfu and respect the OP. I stopped paying attention to Ciara after Level Up. Sure, it was a cute moment for her with some virality but it wasn't that much of a good song. And the following singles sounded nothing like Level Up so I imagined Beauty Marks would be a mediocre playlist. I haven't listened to it to this day. Also I had no idea she was independent. I am aware of how religious she is though. I think her fixation with religion was probably exacerbated by her husband. I think they were linked to the shady church Bieber and other Hollywood elite were. Anyways, it's truly a shame how apparently she has nothing to offer anymore. I also think Fantasy Ride was arguably her greatest moment. Jackie, while not as good as the albums before it, also had some gems like Dance Like We're Making Love. I hope she can do something exciting again someday. Edited August 2 by ChooseyLover 2

Pulse Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Oh, boy. Let sit down and write an essay. @ciara You pretty much summed up my thoughts on her career. I used to be such a die-hard stan, and then the 1, 2 punch of Jackie + Beauty Marks just threw me off completely. I just couldn't do it anymore. At least Jackie had Dance Like We're Making Love to hold onto, but BM was just trash. How We Roll seemed like a step in the right direction but the CiCi EP was lackluster as well. I won't even acknowledge those random ass singles between Beauty Marks and CiCi. All 3 songs she performed on the tour seemed juvenile, almost like caricature of herself during the Basic Instinct mixtape (announced, never released - still not letting it go) days. I listened to The Evolution just the other day - so many creative decisions and interesting sounds, you can tell she was so hands-on with that album. I fondly remember her MTV studio sneak peek when she played a couple of WIP snippets (including That's Right instrumental). You can tell she was feeling what she was doing then and vibing in the studio. The whole album is fantastic, including all 3 bonus tracks. She explored new and upcoming producers, took risks, while still giving us a COHESIVE image/visuals during that era. Nowadays, her team just... sucks. There's no musical direction, no innovation or risks, no cohesion, nothing. I find it baffling. I guess she's surrounded by yes-men and probably thinks any criticism is rooted in hatred and dismisses it? Not sure. There's always stans hyping her up with 🔥🐐 in the comments, and I'm just not seeing what they're seeing because it's getting embarrasing at this point. I wish her all the best, still have love for her, I'll tune in and check every song, project, anything - but I no longer expect much. I moved on. 1

Havoc Posted August 2 Posted August 2 She needs to do a sexy/slick midtempo album Ala How We Roll/Body Party-esuqe songs with great choreography. That's what people want from her. I don't know why she is insists on making dated crunk music.

Funnyfatty Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Ciara is still one of the coolest chick around. Its like we are all waiting for that moment so we can all full force stan again 1
ciara Posted August 4 Author Posted August 4 This was meant with love and I love my fave. She's a sweet person inside and out but hopefully this message gets to her in some form. Even if it's not from this post I hope someone in her team can implement some of these points 1
Scandalous Posted August 4 Posted August 4 (edited) Fantasy Ride is such a great album and the run from Basic Instinct/Ciara/Jackie were all solid with some discography highlight songs. but I do think it largely has to do with the producers/writers she worked with on those songs. her indie music has done absolutely nothing for me (i know level up was a cute hit for her but i don't personally like it), it's like she's lost her ear for good melodies and production with these watered down boring songs. beauty marks was just cheap soccer mom music and the CiCi ep i couldn't even listen to in full i'd love to see her try to lean back into the funky pop sound from Fantasy Ride but it would require her actually having the drive to make good bops again and team up with good producers. I'm sure her budget is a lot more limited as an indie artist now but surely she can find some producers to make less generic and boring garbage than she releases now Edited August 4 by Scandalous
ciara Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 Run it Up pretty much sums up why I made this thread. But she's stubborn
Truth Teller Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Ciara's heart is in pop music. She doesn't want to give another Body Party or Like a Boy or Goodies or even Ride, otherwise she would have already done so in the last 10 years. Unfortunately, the pop door is permanently closed so she's half assing the r&b lane that she's settled for and coming up with mediocre, inauthentic. half-assed results, as expected. She's basically stuck making Level Up 6.0 or throwing darts in the dark, trying to make urban music and guess what r&b fans are into when she herself is probably barely listening to r&b these days. How We Roll was a cute hit though and she has the kind of catalogue that will hold her for life.

It's like she doesn't realize that that type of pop music hasn't been mainstream since like 2015....... Then again she keeps working with the same tired ass producers
Love4Janet Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Justice for Jump! It was everything I needed Ciara to deliver. One of the best songs in her discography. I will forever be mystified and pressed by it flopping 1
Terrielle Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Cici ruled my playlists in the early 2000s!! I don't really follow her closely as much anymore because the music kinda stopped giving..I liked 'The Girls', though!! I love Ciara and I hope she gives us another solid dance/R&B album like her earlier stuff
Slap Posted August 17 Posted August 17 I agree with everything aside from the critique of her dress sense and dancing skills. She is doing great in that department, otherwise as another day 1 CiCi fan I agree especially about the religious stuff it is so jarring. I think working with Chris Brown also really tarnished her for me personally speaking.
reymiu Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Eh I like Better Things & Slow But yeah she needs to hire new A&R / creative director
