Popular Post frankvert Posted August 2 Popular Post Posted August 2 In 2013, Katy fans were very eager to tear down Gaga and declared her career over. Nicknames like Fad, Fadga, and the like quickly ensued. Fast forward 11 years, Gaga is starring in one of the most anticipated sequels of all time and performing at the Olympics. Meanwhile, Katy is working with an alleged rapist in an attempt for commercial success, but failed in doing so and was critically panned while doing so. In the end, did Gaga's prophetic statements and theses from the ARTPOP era end up coming true? Is this the biggest uno reverse card in pop music history? Discuss. 37

Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted August 2 Posted August 2 No, not really. I think everyone was expecting her to bomb. Her career has been in the gutter for a while, but yes, this might have put the final nail in the coffin.

truthteller Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I guess as she once said, "Time, the ultimate @truthteller" 8

Edonis Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I think so. The heavy irony is not lost on me in that the era the cats decided to show their asses also happened to be the last era their fav held any cultural relevancy outside of atrl threads. little did the cats realize that as they accused others of being fads and flops, their fav would be right around the corner to show the girls a thing or two about bombing. 1 10
Infernal Paradise Posted August 2 Posted August 2 The writing was on the wall when Birthday and TIHWD severely underperformed. Combined with the inability to reinvent her image or sound, no solid fanbase, and bad karma collected from nasty behaviour shading other MPGs (often unprovoked) over the years and we end up where we are today. At least she still has a handful of Gaga-hating Britney/Xtina/Madonna stans trying to prop her up and coalesce behind her but I don't think that small a pool of listeners makes for a sustainable audience in today's times. 5 4
єѕℓαм Posted August 2 Posted August 2 The big difference between Gaga and the other girl is that Gaga actually has talent(s) and a loyal fanbase 3
Breakdown Posted August 2 Posted August 2 it's 2024............. and we'd still call gagA that if we didn't get wps for it 5 2
SharGaga Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Truly this generation's Paula Abdul without the widepread love and lasting legacy. 1
Orsay Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Yes but its time for us to stop piling on her imo. I think even most of her fans understand she's over atp. She can't hurt you anymore little monsters! (But she doesn't make things easier on herself by working with Luke) 1

Some of you all are 30+ Girl, please. Katy hasn't been culturally relevant since Dark Horse and that is a fact. You can't change this by simply typing up some words. You should try calling and asking your local radio stations to play Woman's World instead of trying to convince anyone Katy's reign extended behind the end of PRISM. 1 2

Gaga's career is near perfection especially next to Katy's laughable run. And not only is Katy over, she's going out sad and miserable running back to Luke for what she thought would be easy success and it backfired. She deserves the dragging for that and I'm glad people aren't letting her off easy for it. Edited August 2 by Big Bad Wolf 3
Erreur2 La Nature Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I don't understand why Monsters are still so traumatised by Katy especially since she's no longer a threat ? I've defended her a few times after she started flopping but to be fair it looks like she won't be coming back. Her decisions are stupid, her singles aren't good, her image is catastrophic, there's nothing positive that could help her career. 2 3

Well I guess that can't be true, since Katy is still being talked about by ATRLers as tho she never left her MPG status. She somehow still culturally relevant enough to have daily to hourly posts about her on ATRL, to which you run to drag her. Accept it, she is still here, and you hate it. vince_martin88 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Yes. She lucked out on TD's success. Roar and DH were mainly successful due to residual hype/success from TD and the superbowl. 2
latingrl2005 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Who thought in 2013 that Taylor would be the actual the reigning Queen of Pop. No one know 1989 was on its way to end careers.
