Digitalism Posted August 2 Posted August 2 2010s is kinda week I don't like any option Taylor was not big with speak now. With red she was just starting to be a force ww. Then 1989 but reputa was a lot smaller. Rih had loud and Anti. The others were quite small with huge singles tho. Then she stopped. She would have taken this easily if she had release just one more album. Adele was huge but she released so little.

Billboard even wrote an article in 1987 about how impressive it was that she racked up the most #1 hits for an artist that decade in such a short time frame. Michael had been big since the beginning of the decade. He also had the advantage of literally having the biggest album of all time lol. Yeah and that's why she's the queen of pop she was ******* huge as I said. But Michael's success in the 80s was arguably more impressive. Not trying to belittle her success but I mean with only 2 albums he managed to score the biggest album of all time. And the second one is in the top 10 with only a few interviews during the decade. I guess if he had released more stuff he could've been higher on the list (also billboard only used to count US numbers) He was a bigger celebrity, he had the most iconic music video of all time, the Motown performance and the moonwalk, critical acclaim, awards etc it was definitely his decade

I think this thread called for an objective conversation for the most part, but you chose post-truth bubble take instead and I am sure you are aware about it. Which is, of course, also valid that is.

I don't think he really penetrated the globe until Hotline Bling in 2015. And the singles from Red did quite well globally despite not being Adele level.

Reputation was the 2nd best selling album globally in 2017 despite dropping in November whereas Anti wasn't even a top 10 best selling album of 2016 globally despite dropping in January. And you can't even use the "Tidal" excuse because Beyonce had the best selling album of 2016 while on Tidal. This is based on the actual IFPI Global Reports. Anti is arguably Rihanna's 3rd least global album after her first 2 albums(and even her 2nd album was bigger in Asia than Anti). Edited August 2 by Storm653

The biggest singles from the album had small numbers until the eras peak. Most of the streams from the album came from the 2020s. We're talking about the 2010s here. We know the album sold a lot, the singles tho? Not so much specially not WW. Delicate was only big on anglo countries. Anti had smaller album sales as always but 3 big singles. (and 2 more on the era) Edited August 3 by Digitalism 1

AvadaKedavra Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) 70s ABBA 2000s. Eminem or Britney Definitely 2010s. This one is harder but definitely not Taylor. She was just turning a big global star with 1989 and was mostly local to The States. Reputation was a success but not colossal one....Lover was a flop. I think the 2010s belong to Rihanna or Adele. The biggest album seller or hitmaker worldwide. I would go with Rihanna. Songs are far more remembered than albums Taylor owns the 2020s definitely with the huge folklore, midnights and the re-recording and tortured Edited August 2 by AvadaKedavra

Reputation outsold it in actual album sales worldwide. Also, Reputation has 8+ billion streams on Spotify which is more than even the Anti Deluxe. And that's in spite of Taylor initially having her music off Spotify. To each their own though. Anti is ironically one of Rihanna's more U.S. centric albums outside of 2 singles. Blackout2006 Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Rihanna should be the definitive artist of the 2010s IMO. 'We Found Love', 'Diamonds', and 'Work' were inescapable.
1989 Posted August 7 Posted August 7 70's should be Elton and '10's should be Adele (although Taylor would be a very close second), but otherwise this actually looks correct.
HarajukuPrincess Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Surprised Elton John didn't own the 1970s. Bias talking here but Britney >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Eminem for 2000s. #SorryNotSorry #IsaidwhatIsaid
