Taylor should be 10s, too. Her music performance and Drake's in the 10s was very similar. When you add Taylor's touring and media coverage, she clears.

The plot was lost once we entered the 2000s. Tragic.

Madonna also has a case for the 1980's even though MJ was more dominant overall with only 2 albums.

Mariah for the 90's is correct and no....Mariah was far from "local" in the 90's. That's just plain revisionist history that can be debunked when you see a list of women who sold the most albums in Europe and Asia.

Eminem for 00's is pretty accurate even though I feel like Britney's celebrity status was more consistently dominant during that decade.

Honestly, I feel like Taylor was more dominant as a solo artist than Drake in the 10's but Drake was able to expand his reach by doing a million features for different artists while Taylor hardly ever does features. Even Views only sold 852,000 units in hard copies fw whereas Taylor had 4 albums that sold a milli fw back to back. But Drake was still dominant and more prolific nonetheless so I can still see the case for him.

20's is looking like it's definitely Taylor's decade hands down. But Morgan Wallen might be the Dark Horse candidate if he starts dropping more frequently. Nonetheless, I think Taylor has it in the bag because she's acclaimed(TTPD being a slight outlier), top selling, famous, and is about to have the most successful tour ever. I love Billie and Olivia but they're not touching Taylor this decade overall.

drake is the one who annoys me the most but i fear there's no getting away with asking for kesha (could replace him with sheeran but tbh is that much better?)

i would be happier with maybe abba or fleetwood mac for the 70s, because they're both arguably bigger and better than pink floyd.

not that i dislike floyd esp but they're less relevant today than either of those bands and i'm reluctant to hand anything to such a big crank as roger waters

Elton John for the 70's . The Beatles broke up in 1970.

Re: 1960's

Dusty Springfield (a lipstick lesbian) is a gay icon. Championed by gay men of the older generation.

Re: 1970's

I don't think you'll find Pink Floyd mean much to gays of ANY generation. I would have replaced them with either Donna Summer or Debbie Harry.

Re: 1980's

Michael Jackson over Madonna?

(No absolutely not).

Re: 2000's

Eminem over Britney?

(If you were a straight white boy from the suburbs, maybe).

Re: 2010's

Drake over Lana or Adele?

(My homosexual brain says no).

The 00s and 10s are kinda arguable:

00s could've been Britney or Bey. The 10s it's a toss up for Taylor & Drake.

It's Drake and it's close but not a tie. Let's just be honest.

It doesn't. And before you think you are being smart, there has always been a separate list of era defining artists for gays (than straights). Yet here we are with an ignorant (probably) Gen Z gay dethroning the gay communities all time era defining icons with the straight communities equivalents (on a site that is mostly populated by gays).

Eminem had 3 Diamond albums in the 2000's, Britney didn't. He is also the single Biggest solo Artist of the 2000's Globally. :rip: Stop it

Guess logic and facts go out the window then. Since you disliked a literal fact. 😭

No, I'm just championing the artists that gave hope, brought light and stopped portions of the gay community from ending themselves in a world less enlightened than today's. So just small things like that really.
