Well, this is the top news in my country since her next match will against a Hungarian one.

This must be product of Russia's deliberate disinformation campaign. It cannot be otherwise.

It's been exposed this was Russian misinformation.

The IBA putting out a statement means nothing since they are Russian-controlled and sanctioned, not taken seriously at all due to past misinformation and fraud. They are literally trying to get revenge for the IOC banning Russia and people are falling for it. Never mind that even if she did  have XY chromosomes she could still get pregnant but GCers are currently saying she's "still male" because even if she could carry a baby to term she might need an egg donation so she's a man. What happened to the sexual organ essentialism :bibliahh:

"All this controversy makes me sad," Carini told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I'm sorry for my opponent, too. If the IOC said she can fight, I respect that decision."

Carini, also 25, said abandoning the fight had been a mature step to take, but she expressed regret at not shaking hands with Khelif afterwards.

"It wasn't something I intended to do," Carini said. "Actually, I want to apologise to her and everyone else. I was angry because my Olympics had gone up in smoke."

She added that if she met Khelif again, she would "embrace her".

This is actually making me very angry my god:rip: The amount of media and news outlet still referring to Imane as a "a biological male" is???????

I spent about an hour earlier arguing with some rats on Facebook (my fault, I know) and it's beyond crazy how easily brainwashed people can be. This is just case #5346546846868 of transphobia overlapping with racism and once again a cis woman of color is targeted due to not following inherently racist european beauty standards and because of features they deem more masculine. And how stupid do you have to be to even believe that a country riddled with homophobia/transphobia like Algeria is gonna let a trans woman represent them at the ******* Olympics

Right. Her meeting Meloni and saying it felt like meeting a mom too? Like **** right off with this "apology". It wont erase the immense and irreparable harm inflicted on Imane and all trans women globally by her poor sportsmanship.

Further evidence that TERFs are not real feminists and do not care about protecting women, they only care about spreading hatred.

Agreed. But I'm honing in specifically on matter at hand involving combat sports where you're inflicting physical blows on each other. Those other sports you mentioned don't implement weight classes because there isn't the same harm of injuring each other

It feels kinda unfair to allow a woman who has undergone a male pubescence and now possesses a testosterone-dominated system to physically fight a woman without the same development. On a anatomical level this is comparable to a male fighting a female, and normally letting a man and woman compete in combat sports would be unthinkable due to safety concerns. The only difference here is the social lived experience of Imane and I don't think that ought to supercede every other consideration for the matter, and moreover I don't think acknowledging her strength advantages is insulting to her lived experiences as a woman either.

I agree that it's not technically fair, but there are very few sports that are 100% fair. It's very common in all sports for one opponent to have an advantage over the other, hence why usually the male boxers that have the biggest physical build are the winners, does that make it unfair for their opponent who may not be as tall or strong or have less testosterone? At the end of the day, Imane was born female, so regardless of whether or not she has more testosterone, she was still born female. It's ironic that so-called feminists like JK Rowling have now spiralled into discriminating against cis women who don't fit into the norm, which is exactly where a lot of people knew this culture war would end up going.

Tell me why it just got exposed that the only reason Russia accused Kehlif of not being cis was because she beat a Russian opponent. Russia took away

Lin Yu Ting's after she won either falsely accusing her of failing a gender test too.

 :bibliahh:

That one subsection of online activists doubling down and refusing to use a cisgender woman's correct pronouns by their standards and calling her a man. attacking women who don't fit their eurocentric standard of femininity and not recognizing they fell for russian misinfo. It's not even ignorant it's purposely evil.

The fact that these Western conseravtive ghouls read misinformation about a trans athlete from f**king ALGERIA and didn't think for a second to think if that isn't weird or suspicious and just went with spreading fake news is just mindblowing

omg she needs to sue all of them. Sadly, I dont think she will knowing Algerian culture. She probably feels extremely embarrassed and just wants to sweep this under the rug.

This is the epitome of racism and white privilege. A white woman's tears are so strong against ethnic people.

"I've never felt such strong punches so you must be a man" and the world rallies behind her. Equality is nowhere to be found and racism lives on.

This has been going on almost twenty years. Female athletes with DSD have sued for the right to compete without restriction.  In 2018 a South African gold medalist runner petitioned to be allowed to compete without conforming to new rules about testosterones levels. She had a DSD where she had high testosterone level but was a cis female. The new rule specified a maximum level to compete which she was above. Drugs which would lower the level had an adverse effect on her. The Court of Arbitration for Sports ruled against her. Since then it has been up to each international sports governing body to set rules. This olympics women's boxing is being governed by IOC rules on gender, as the IOC no longer recognizes an international governing body for women's boxing. The IOC broke ties with the IBA over their shady financial data and the underlying corruption behind it.

On a side note, the study used by World Athletics, the international track and field governing body, to counter the South African athlete, has since been refuted. But, nobody has gone through the process to bring a new case before the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
