attention Posted August 1 Posted August 1 DWUW solo version - very radio friendly, crossover appeal. it would've still needed different creative direction like imagery GUY had 1
Europe Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Didn't people look at how many streams each non-single is getting and it turned out that the title track receives the most recurrent streams, without promo? That tells you the whole story.
Digitalism Posted August 1 Posted August 1 (edited) Dwyw as a lead is the best option. Sex dreams a version with less noisy production and softer vocals in the verses Applause third Fashion fourth Then whatever she wants Edited August 1 by Digitalism 1

If DWUW was the first single - with a high budget video - a solo version or a feat ( with Drake/somebody alike), it could have made it one of her biggest hits. 1
BlueBlue Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Appaluse was best lead choice. Everything was fine untill she changed Venus to DWUW 1
AvadaKedavra Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Releasing Do What U Want with Drake in the summer and with a cool video
Dylangaga Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Mary Jane Holland should've been the lead! It would've hit Number 1 on all charts!
Bocanada Posted August 1 Posted August 1 (edited) Man!cure would've been cute imo Applause and Do what you want (except R Kelly) were good singles Edited August 1 by Bocanada 1
SpaceOddity Posted August 1 Posted August 1 G.U.Y. as the first single and era introduction would've been pretty fun. Applause for single #2. Then Do What U Want with Christina or solo. ARTPOP last as a conclusion. People thinking the G-slur song or ******* Dope would've done anything but worsen the tankage that's already happened lol. Half the album is trash anyway, Dope, Drugs And Jewels, Fashion, G-slur and Donatella should've never existed. Swine should've been worked on to be less repetitive, Sex Dreams and Manicure should've had their original versions on the album.
iHype. Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Brooklyn Nights would've been a better single choice than any other album track, ironically.
needs Posted August 1 Posted August 1 I don't think anything from that album would have saved the era
Cyanide Posted August 1 Posted August 1 I don't think she'd be where she is now without ARTPOP, I've always said though Do What U Want would've been better if it featured The Weeknd 1
JackOfHearts Posted August 1 Posted August 1 (edited) It's surprising how many people think that Gypsy is not only a good song, but should have been a single. It's actual trash. Anyways, I think she should have stuck to her guns with Venus, maybe with a cute Sailor Moon themed video. She also should have released DWUW as a solo single. Then she could have released remixes with whoever she wanted and it wouldn't have been as terrible as R Kelly being on the main version. I also wouldn't have minded ARTPOP and MANiCURE getting their proper moments to shine, but the latter would be better with its original version with the guitars, and withOUT the video treatment she had in mind cause that was just ASKING FOR TROUBLE. Applause to end the era. Edited August 1 by JackOfHearts 1
terrorblade Posted August 1 Posted August 1 the single choices were fine it's just that the rollout was disastrous
Iyanla, Fix Me Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Omg it's been 11 years pls move on I love the album but she was overexposed and the songs aren't listener friendly so it was never gonna be more than it was.

Applause to end the era. All good points. The big issue was that she did not release a video for do what you want. Venus would not have controversy surrounding it so she would have been able to release whatever she shot for it. We know the MV concept was finished.
Victor Artur Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Definitely DWUW but the controversial featuring killed its potential.
babyforlife Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Sexxx Dreams would have flopped on Radio, but it will SMASH on YouTube especially with "sexy" video..
PillowCase Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I really enjoyed Mary Jane Holland. It has a similar vibe to Born This Way, which I think would have made it a strong reintroduction for Gaga after her break. Plus, the song's themes would have resonated with the counterculture at the time as weed was not legalized yet. It's a shame it wasn't released as a single, as I believe it had the potential to be a top 5 hit.
Homebrand Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Tbh I don't think it would of been much different then the way it played out and I think the right songs were released as singles. If GUY wasn't a hit then songs like Venus, Gypsy etc stood no chance Applause DWUW (solo with proper video release) Sexxx Dreams (ft Rihanna remix) G.U.Y
Iceland Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Lead Single: Aura ft Beyonce (Zedd Remix) 2nd Single: Do What You Want ft Legend X 3rd Single: Brooklyn Nights 4th Single: Gypsy!
