Raphy23 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I like to hate on xtina sometimes, but this video is so fun. She slays the choreo! Does xtina actually dance like that or did they using a stunt double? also this type of upbeat retro type of songs fit her voice so well where she doesn't push her vocals to straining levels. 3
KatyPrismSpirit Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Her beauty during the Back 2 Basics era was immaculate tbh. 9 1
Raphy23 Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 ALSO I used to do latin ballroom as a kid, and this was the most used "jive" song during dance competitions. 1

Would have acepted as an album track but this was so annoying as a single. MTV latam was clearly paid to spam this. 1 1 1
Purple Land Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I admire her for reinventing herself... but this was CLASSIC Xtina. Like she found her thing at the time and it felt so natural and original. There was so much she could've explored from the 30s to the 60s in future albums if she just evolved naturally from B2B 1 4

Everybody else seemed to like it tho, which added to my frustration lol.
Bradphord Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Christina is actually a good dancer, she only does a few of moves these days but her debut and Mi Reflejo eras had her dancing all over and killing it. She also co-directed the Candymanvideo. It's a shame she stopped gaf about being a full-on pop star after Bionic, but I don't mind, she's such a great artist and performer. All she really needs is a stage, a mic and a dozen of homosexuals gyrating behind her and she puts on a fire show.
Kakihara Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I absolutely hate this song and video. There's just something about it... 3 2 4
UnusualBoy Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Honestly she NAILED the visuals during the BTB era, all three singles had stunning videos. Candyman is so carefree and catchy, she was on her bag! 1 1
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted July 30 Posted July 30 She needs to go back to this sound. Back to Back to Basics!
ImpressMeMuch Posted July 30 Posted July 30 her best era she would have seen continued success with this megan trainor esque throwback vibe in the mom crowd

It looks like her transition from Back To Basics to Bionic felt inconsistent. Edited July 30 by Princess Aurora
AxelFox Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Probably my favorite thing she's ever done tbh. This is a classic in my books idc.
Both Sides Now Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Candyman is kind of one of the worst songs on B2B but I agree that she nailed the video. She has a great videography.
pigeon Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Back to Basics era was such a gem. It was giving a Madonna era with carefully curated references, performances and most importantly, music was good and she seemed in her element. 1
45seconds Posted July 30 Posted July 30 (edited) The song being a nearly identical to that Buggy Woogie Bugle Boy song in the verses always annoyed me but I loved the video. Edited July 30 by 45seconds 2
TaylorsSquad Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I enjoy B2B I wish she stayed with that retro sound or instead released music sooner maybe she'd be more successful if she did but B2B was an Era.

I feel like Xtina constantly switching up her image and sound between eras is what set her back a bit. She didn't have an established sound, only an established voice that people can recognize. 1
Glamthony Posted July 30 Posted July 30 this song had me on a chockehold back in 2007. i was OBSSESED 1
