I will say, didn't agree with what she was saying last night about people having an unconscious bias against Khaled for being a man, because that's not really what's happened here. You can agree with Khaled's side of his rift with Ali without having to turn it in to a discussion of her (or anyone siding with her) not liking Khaled because of his gender. I'm not saying Hanah is a misogynist - MAJOR disclaimer on that - but invalidating people's opinions on a man because you think they're "unconsciously biased" on them can come across misogynistic. This cuts similarly from the same cloth as Marcello last night turning Sarah having a problem with him saying "your pH levels must be off" into her problem. Same way that when the discussion around masturbation and sex turned into Ali's problem because she didn't want to have to sit in a communal area and listen to that discussion. There is some genuinely interesting gender dynamics this series that definitely weren't present last series. I just don't feel like this group of people are the right people to be in the middle of the discussions around them. I don't think Hanah's point was so much about Ali not liking Khaled because he is a man, but the fact that there was no care for how that kind of attack could affect Khaled, and I do have to agree that men are often not treated with the same kind of care towards their emotions and mental health. Ali's feelings and emotions are supposed to take precedent but she didn't give any of that care to Khaled, a man who is almost two decades younger than her. 2

The Slayer Posted October 23 Author Posted October 23 Ali is an absolutely nasty piece of work. She is vile. is she now basically trying to call Khaled homophobic? Saying he didn't like her as she's a lesbian. She is so dangerous with her words. She is malicious. 1 2

Saying he didn't like her as she's a lesbian. She is so dangerous with her words. She is malicious. That wasn't what she said, literally at all. She said after she started to be open about the fact that she was a gay woman she felt he stopped talking to her, wondering if that was due to the fact she wasn't available to him, since she believes she was told by Emma in the early days he had a crush on her (Twitter is saying it was actually Marcello that Emma was talking about - could be a mistake/misinterpretation, could be something that wasn't shown on any of the highlight shows, also could be that she's lying about it altogether). And I'm just as happy to defend Khaled as I am Ali and say maybe once he found that out he took a step back so as not to give off any impressions or whatever. And it's important to note in this very episode he spoke in the diary room that before Hanah he never had a friendship with a woman before, so I can only surmise he's made less effort getting to know the girls in the house. I'd argue it's just as dangerous to assume she's trying to call him homophobic. 1 2

It sounds like your hate is blinding you. 1 1
Jack! Posted October 24 Posted October 24 I gave Late & Live a watch on ITVX and indeed Emma did tell Ali that in the first few days Khaled had said he fancied her. Now I can't help but wonder - if you're going to air on the main highlight show Ali talking about that to Dean - why not show the context in which that conversation came from? Editorial conspiring doesn't strike me as something going on here, I actually don't think any one persons perception has been influenced by how ITV is editing the show, and I don't think ITV has to do that since I believe we are getting a fair idea how everyone is based off of what they actually are showing us. But that seemed like it would have been a key element to tonights show that they could have put in there, instead of L&L where the ratings from the main show drop anyway. 1
Mordecai Posted October 24 Posted October 24 K that's it I've had enough of Martha, get her out Lily would be the most insufferable person irl, can't believe no one has had a proper go at her yet
Fleahive Posted October 24 Posted October 24 (edited) Is this better than last season? What are the vibes with this cast? Happy and boring? Smoking **** talkers that don't confront each other? Loud and obnoxious? Any racism? If I don't start this weekend I'll never start Edited October 24 by Fleahive

However, from a drama standpoint it's far better 1

And I'm also sure it wouldn't just be the two of them who shared common ground on the issue. And what's frustrating is you'll never see any of this or discussions about this on a highlight show. Sad.
Chamoy Posted October 24 Posted October 24 But they'll do nothing about Ratcello's behavior. C5 would've already removed him.

No one is bothered by Ali because she's a woman and she's intelligent, that's such a lazy card to pull People have an issue with the fact that she's judgmental and hypocritical. Let's not patronise her and reduce all debate around her to her gender. 3
The Slayer Posted October 24 Author Posted October 24 Wonder how Ali will act now it is her friend calling a black woman aggressive. She came for blood when Khaled called her aggy, so we'll see if she has anything to say to Lily. Also pretty disgusting behaviour to spill alcohol on a Muslim persons bed…
Lover Posted October 24 Posted October 24 L&L last night was ruthless. the audience celebrating their hate for ali. we love to see it. 1
The Slayer Posted October 24 Author Posted October 24 Martha is so two faced! Why is she saying she wouldn't repeat things when she did?
