Also Tony stark is literally the main character of the MCU, and we are in the Multiverse saga. 🤦♀️ like this is 100% inevitable. Plus he is coming back as Ironman too… as this is a variant. That's what makes it incomparable. Downey Jnr lost out on a role (I don't think he was ever officially cast as Doctor Doom) and was able to lead a huge franchise whereas Ryan Reynolds played a terrible version of the same character in a panned film and subsequently got a second chance to do the character justice. It's very obvious it's a variant but his casting screams fan service and it's clearly working judging by the reactions. 3

Doctor doom has 2 panned incarnations and now RDJ is giving justice to a role he was cast in, but didn't get to play. Ryan didn't get to play the version of Deadpool he wanted, but what the studio wanted. So he made a fake audition and leaked it on the internet to get crowd funding for the film. They both are similar, as now RDJ has the power and influence to play a superhero character that started his venture into comicbook movies. Edited July 28 by Gorjesspazze9
Gorjesspazze9 Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 @ccfan007 you can keep going, it's not changing the fact this announcement is trending #1 Worldwide and Marvel is back to being well received and a Billion Dollar film just drop 2 days ago! I recommend you get tickets and seethe 1

Like I said, I don't think he was ever casted and from what I remember he was only in talks at the time but I digress.

This is giving Katy running back to Dr. Luke. @Reverse Warholian This, and this is after RDJ was shading and saying that being in the MCU so long affected his acting skills (when he was campaigning for Oppy). This is so silly and desperate and then add that Feige brought the Russos back thinking they will make A5-6 a $2B fests but in the reality it was the endgame thing not their directing skills. When Thunderbolts and F4 flops for the third time then what? They will move on from Doom? 1
James_Dean Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I honestly hate everything about the Multiverse and Variant concepts 4 1
Hephaestus Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Not gonna lie it sounds like lazy casting and fan baiting, but I did gag when they revealed Robert Downey Jr. as Doom. I guess we'll see how it turns out. Happy they kept Secret Wars as the final movie of this saga! 1
Life Savers Posted July 28 Posted July 28 This is so cringe , especially after RDJ's Oscar campaign. 1 1
Johnny Jacobs Posted July 28 Posted July 28 (edited) WHY. Just give the role to someone fresh. I'm sorry but it's not giving. I am not into recycling actors. Hopefully at least the script will be good. I just know that now the budget will increase alot to afford their salaries. Edited July 28 by Johnny Jacobs 1

Gorjesspazze9 Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 Marvel fandom hasn't been this active in years… it's feeling like pre-pandemic level of hype! all those complaining know they are gonna be in the theater opening weekend regardless. 1
Marianah Adkins Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I'm only perched bec Xmen deserves better treatment But lmao MCU feels so…..uninspired lately. And I say this as someone who watched every movie from Iron Man to Endgame. It wouldve been better for MCU's already questionable legacy if they capped at it Endgame but what do I know, capitalism slay I guess.
