At what age did you move out and live on your own?

Any before you reply, I'm not talking about moving out for college/university.

I mean permanently leave your family/parents home and live on your own.

I did so twice. I had moved out on my own originally when I was 21 for about 2-3 years, but I ended up getting laid off from my job and moved back in with my dad.

I probably could have bounced back and kept at it if I wasn't living beyond my means prior to getting laid off but I was very financially irresponsible.

It wasn't until I was 26 that I moved out again.

Few months after I turned 18, left and moved to another state with a friend. Never went back!

I was 17. My mom was fiscally irresponsible and made us pay rent/always asked for money, so I figured it wasn't worth it and moved in with roommates in the middle of my senior year of high school.

Since this year. I got a good job and now I rent an apartment with my boyfriend at 24 with no help from my parents/family

Don't know why moving away for college/university wouldn't count.

I moved away at 18 when I started university, and I never moved back home after that, so 18 is when I permanently left my family/parents home and lived on my own.

I was I believe 18, and it was very hard but it really was worth it. I learned a LOT.

I lived with my parents till I was 26; never moved away for college or anything. I didn't have to pay rent, so I was able to save a lot of money. When I did move out it was into the home that me and my partner purchased together (this was in late 2021, so we've been living together for almost 3 years now).

Moved out at 18, had to come back for 6 months (live-in partner was arrested and it finally clicked for me that they were abusive) at 24, but have been on my own since. Just turned 30!

N/A cuz i ain't paying those rent prices in my city

I moved out for university, spent a year abroad as part of my bachelor's degree, returned to England to finish my studies, then moved abroad for work, and eventually decided to attend grad school. So, I've been living away from home for almost 10 years now. I'm truly grateful for these opportunities because, when I see people who haven't moved out or left their countries, I feel like they're stuck in a "cage" with limited progression in their lives.

I moved out at 21. Then one day at the end of the month the guy I was living with pocketed the rent money and skipped town so I was forced to move back home. It was an ugly time and living at home was more expensive than living on my own so it took awhile to build up the reserves to try again. Finally managed to leave for good at 25.

Didn't know life could be THIS MUCH BETTER :heart2:

Didn't know that your biggest enemies could be the people you grew up with :)

I also didn't know that everything in life that you want to happen starts to happen when you leave the toxic environment.

Best decision i ever made. And yeah whenever i miss them (i speak with them 1 time a month) i just call them.
