Mary J. Blige has incredible album discography, yet ATRL pays her dust. Why?

I haven't listened to the majority of her albums front to end, but the ones that I have (The Breakthrough and Growing Pains) are amazing.

She thanked Lou Taylor publicly on a speech and has had close ties with that demon since the 90s. I can't like her as a Britney fan, sadly.

Imagine debuting with 730k sales in 2005 and having the biggest R&B song of all time as per Billboard

Imagine selling 623k in your 1st week and debuting at #2 only to go #1 the next week

She ruled the 2000s with such an iron fist and was the definition of consistency

Let me stream "Runaway Love" - a #2 Hot 100 smasha

Imagine if we were on ATRL around that time, Mary was like mini Adele with those album sales. See when you're a VOCALIST and make quality albums worth buying :clap3:

I need to revisit it because I haven't listened to it in ages, but I always thought Love & Life was her only real weak album. But I really wouldn't expect the average user here to be a fan of her brand of R&B, hip-hop and soul.

Love & Life has weaker songs, but the album flows so smoothly, it's so cozy! Don't Go, When We, Friends, Not Today, Ultimate Relationship  :jonny:

i actually did vote her album but she couldnt care less about her former career and doesnt even tries to remember it. yet people voted for aaliyah albums when MJB was superior right there.

She's a Black Woman (Strike 1) in her 50's (Strike 2) that does R&B (Strike 3)

Anyway, This is my favorite Mary Song and it's never mentioned... like ever

The hip hop/R&B fusion. The lyrics, The vocals, the emoting... She ate

R&B isnt that popular here, especially that of anyone who debuted before 2010. Im personally not running for it but the songs from her that I have heard are all gold.

Her discography is amazing. My Life and The Breakthrough are my favorite albums from her, R&B classics.

She was a top certified r&b artist too.

She's too r&b so true R&B is not going to get love here more than pop flavored r&B

Most who don't love and respect R&b at its core know her for:

-MAYBE Real love

-MAYBE Not gon cry

-MAYBE I'm going down

-Let's get it crunk in this dancery (Family Affair)

-Be without you

Which is a crying shame as she has SOOOO many classics:

Album tracks: Time, Sincerity, Don't go, Good woman down, Where I've been, Willing and Waiting etc.

Let alone:

Reminisce

Sweet thing cover

Be happy

You bring me joy

I love you

Everything

Seven Days

All that I can say (MY PERSONAL FAVORITE)

Deep inside

No more drama

Enough

 and other gems
