Bussea Posted July 23 Posted July 23 what are some albums that were deemed a success but lacked proper hits?
KatyPrismSpirit Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Norman Rockwell! Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd are good examples of this
Migs Posted July 23 Posted July 23 The "Britney" album situation comes to mind, but in the U.S. only. Radio stations stopped playing her songs and the peaks on the Hot 100 were terrible. The singles from this album are very much remembered nowadays, but I feel like the era would've been way bigger if the boycott hadn't happened. 11 1 1

itshyolee Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Only had 2 singles that unfortunately didn't perform well, but had the highest first week sales for a British act in the US at the time and went on to sell nearly 4 million copies. 2
Oktober Knight Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Confessions On A Dance Floor Get Together and Jump bombed
NausAllien Posted July 23 Posted July 23 CHRISTINA: In the US, "Dirrty" flopped due to the controversy and ****-shaming, but it was quickly followed by the smash hit "Beautiful" and the album and era was saved. BEYONCÉ: She kinda struggled with "4" as we all know. None of the singles made it to the top 10. But the album ended up selling pretty well and has good streaming numbers.
UnusualBoy Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Britney (Album) - The highest peaking song peaked at #27 and it's 4x platinum, elegible for 5x. Come Away With Me by Norah Jones - The biggest song peaked at #30, it's certified 12x platinum and her next album Feels Like Home, none of the singles charted and it's certified 4x platinum.
Dialamba Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Trapsoul and it's kinda a reach since don't peaked in top 20 but the album is more successful than its singles.

Quote The singles from this album are very much remembered nowadays, but I feel like the era would've been way bigger if the boycott hadn't happened. The entire album only gets around 200k daily streams No one except +30 year old gays remember "I'm a Slave 4 u" and or any other single from that album And stop with the excuses about that imginary boycott, the music was terrible and that's it. 6 5 1 7
naval23 Posted July 23 Posted July 23 No hot 100 singles but was among the top 5 best sellers of 2004 in almost every country and sold over 1M+ in its 1st week 1

MP3 Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Taking Chances by Céline It sold 4 million copies, almost the same as Hard Candy but it didn't have any hit at all while HC had 4 minutes, a #1 song in 21 countries 1

I always wondered if that Guinness record included iTunes
