Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted July 22 Posted July 22 ATRLers have you transitioned? I'm curious about your transition experiences. Did you opt for surgery? If so, how was the process and what influenced your decision? If not, what were your reasons and how has your journey been without it?
Princess Aurora Posted July 22 Posted July 22 I'm not trans but it'd be nice to hear some experiences about this journey 1
Suilen Posted July 22 Posted July 22 I transitioned legally and take hormones. I didn't have any surgeries because: 1) I'm scared of them; 2) I didn't have the means, and all gender-affirming surgeries were banned here last year; 3) after agonizing over my gender and coming to terms with the fact that I'm non-binary, I don't really need them anymore. Ultimately, I don't care about having the other set of genitalia, and those surgeries aren't perfect regardless. I'd rather keep the... sensitivity. Also, my dysphoria was never that crippling in that aspect, and removing more obvious signs of masculinity was a bigger priority. I did consider reducing the Adam's apple, but no one's clocked me (and it's not that prominent), so why bother? I imagine that binary trans people may feel differently, and for some those surgeries are necessary and life-saving, this is just my experience. 2
