BOAZ Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Funny cause last night I dreamt I was watching Charli performs Everything is romantic on the grammys Brat had a lot of success and critical acclaim I think they're underestimating her. Tbh an AOTY nom wouldn't surprise me But most of all I'm rooting for Chappell, I hope she gets nominated in all general field plus pop solo and pop vocal album

RideOrDie Posted July 19 Posted July 19 too pop centric, grammys love throwing in random middle-aged appealing flops no one listens to so there'll be some snubs 1 1
Wicked Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Somehow Pop albums are the only.ones worth of nominations, okay man. And this is supposed to represent the music industry 3
Ewan Chaos Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Very very safe bets. Not necessarily a bad thing; 2024 Grammys listing was pretty much "all the big pop names and one random other one to fill the space." Personally, I feel like 70% of these will be right and the other 30% will be snubs of the more pop-leaning songs for some random **** (remember, Bonnie Raitt's random non-single track was not only nominated but also won SOTY).
OrgVisual Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Album of the Year: Beyoncé - Cowboy Carter Sabrina Carpenter - Short n' Sweet Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard And Soft Ariana Grande - Eternal Sunshine Chappell Roan - The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess Chris Stapleton - Higher Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department Tyla - Tyla 7 Pop girls? LOL 2

I do think a lot of the pop girls could make it in but they could just as likely not. Like everyone else said they'll choose their random projects that they nominate like crazy despite little critical and commercial success (not that any tbh at they've chosen are even bad per se, but they do come out of nowhere in terms of the conversation). I think a lot of the noms this year will be about picking sides. For the artists who are large in the conversation, who do they like? Who do they not? Like when they decided they like Xtina and not Britney, or Gaga and not Katy. Sabrina/Chappel/Benson will be signals about where the Grammys want music to go.

I also don't see we can't be friends by Ariana making both ROTY/SOTY Also Tyla in Album of the Year? The album was amazing but def not successful enough for Grammy standards 4 or 5 different publications have said it's in the running atp, so idk…probably because of the critical acclaim + the fact she already won a Grammy…? It's a good album though, despite it not being a mega success.
thatsmydemi Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Those noms are too predictable and success-driven. There are always like one or two less known artists sneaking into the general field. 2

Yes and no, ever since they removed the committee it has been very pop heavy, 2021: (8/10 pop and commercial, 9 if you include Love For Sale Jon Batiste Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga Justin Bieber Doja Cat Billie Eilish H.E.R. Lil Nas X Olivia Rodrigo Taylor Swift Kanye West 2022: (5/8 pop or commercially successful, 2 legends with prior pop hits, 1 Brandi) ABBA Bad Bunny Beyonce Mary J. Blige Brandi Carlisle Coldplay Kendrick Lamar Lizzo Harry Styles 2023: (6/8 pop or commercially successful) Jon Batiste Boygenius Miley Cyrus Lana Del Rey Janelle Monae Olivia Rodrigo Taylor Swift SZA

Janelle Monae likely made AOTY last year with a similar cross-branch support. 1

EDEJtheArtist Posted July 20 Posted July 20 (edited) I really hope COWBOY CARTER gets aoty it's so deserving and Queen Bey has been snubbed the award her last 3 album cycles like in all honesty I feel like this should be here 4th aoty but the academy is what it is and usually rewards mediocrity. also lol at Sabrina being nominated for aoty like the album isn't even out yet and she has released are 2 really basic Tik Tok songs for kids in middle school, like let's be serious the payola is too much. You do realize you're saying they "usually reward mediocrity" when Beyoncé is the most awarded artist by the GRAMMYs, right?

Sabrina has two of the biggest songs of the year and is the hottest "new" girl. Unless her album is a total bomb she is easily getting in.
