Robyn. Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Apart from bragging because your fave can sell-out huge venues, when it comes to a full stan experience, why are smaller venues better? For me, it feels so much more intimate, rather than watch the show mainly from huge screens. What are your thoughts on this? 1
Popular Post tost1 Posted July 16 Popular Post Posted July 16 If I had a choice I would always go to a smaller venue, what's the point of sitting 2 miles away from the stage 14 3

MP3 Posted July 16 Posted July 16 For rock bands for exemple, stadium concerts are the best because you don't really care to see the lead singer or the band close and you go mostly to hear the music and feel the vibe with everybody else but when it comes to elaborated shows with choreographies and art projections, it seems out of place because only the floor and some parts of the seats can really enjoy all that work but let's be honest, stadium crowd pictures with our fave's stage is something nice to look at for any fans 4
Edonis Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Depends on the venue and where you are, but generally, yes. I saw Chromatica Ball twice - the first in the pit and could barely see everything because of the stage (and I'm 6'3) blocking part of my view, and the second time in the seats which was a little bit better but still, quite far from the stage. The Renaissance Tour was easier to see the entire production because there wasn't really anything blocking my view from the seats, but it still felt like I was miles away from where Beyoncé was. Not a big fan of stadium shows in general tbh. 6

Feanor Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Only for artists that lack the star power, the performance skills and the vision to put on stadium-worthy shows. For those that can do that, stadium shows are magical.

Well, for instance The Renaissance Tour seems amazing, but still, for those who were so far from the stage it must have been a pain in the ass to not experience the show like those in the front... Monster Queen Posted July 16 Posted July 16 I have been to all gaga's stadiums tour and Taylor's rep tour (I failed to get the Eras), and coldplay tour, and lots of Madonna's show and all of them are amazing so No.
BrokenMachine Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Yes. Like, what's the point of being so far away and just listening to the speakers and looking at a screen? I better stay at home and watch a recording
Attaboy Posted July 16 Posted July 16 The stadium experience SUCKS Most stadiums are not run that well. It takes hours to get in and out. 50,000 people packed like sardines. Hyper fans all up in your space. Being glued to the screen cuz you can't see the performer. It's a NO from me 2
SinnerCity Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Yeah, stadiums are not it to be honest, I get it's rewarding for artists to feel they can perform to massive crowds but for the most part, it's not the best experience. Sometimes I envy Christina's fans for instance. they will never have to worry about their fave performing at stadiums or arenas. Lucky bastards. Wouldn't you agree @A-V-XYZ? 4
ATRL Moderator Juánny Posted July 16 ATRL Moderator Posted July 16 The responses in here dragging artists who can't sell out stadium venues like they're the ones making these millions of dollars. Listen, just because someone plays smaller venues doesn't say anything about their talent and performance skills. OP is asking about what we as fans prefer and somehow it still ends as a circlejerk for stans of stadium-touring artists to sh*t on smaller artists... Plenty of really talented acts with fantastic discographies play smaller venues and the it's a good point, that as fans we can sometimes get more out of intimate settings rather than stadiums. For me, it depends, sometimes prefer smaller venues like smaller capacity arenas, and sometimes do prefer stadiums. Usually I prefer a smaller capacity arena or even smaller like an outdoor amphitheatre for electronic music. The upside I see to stadiums is that because they're big, they feel like this huge spectacle and the energy can be really incredible because of the number of people. I think the stadium environment really fits the Eras tour for example, I don't think it could be quite the show it is inside a smaller environment. It sometimes depends on what the artist is doing and what the music is like to be honest. 7 4
alexrex Posted July 16 Posted July 16 The sound is AWFUL in stadiums, so it may be a waste of money. It depends on the artist as well. For example, going to the Eras Tour must be double awful because of the bad vocals and the poor dancing. 3
Venice B Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Personally I prefer festivals, the vibe is a whole other level.
40_L3VE Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Arenas > stadiums. You're less of an observer and more of a participant imo.
gustavothehuman Posted July 16 Posted July 16 (edited) Depends on the material being performed. Coldplay are very wise on this matter: theatres for intimate albums like Ghost Stories, stadiums for maximalist works like A Head Full of Dreams. Edited July 16 by gustavothehuman
Lorenzo22 Posted July 16 Posted July 16 of all the concerts i've been to, the stadium ones have been the best experiences for sure. there's nothing like being in a huge space, seeing the sky, singing your favorite songs with 50k+ people.
glitch Posted July 16 Posted July 16 For most artists theatres are the best vibes in my experience, but I like an arena if someone is bringing big production. Stadiums you're just way too far away from anything unless you pay an arm and a leg
50thStateofMind Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Iʻve seen Beyonce in an arena 1 time and in a stadium 3x and Iʻll say without a doubt the stadium shows were WAY BETTER. Most artists Iʻd much rather see in an Arena though cause they wouldnʻt pull off a stadium show well. 2
Mitsuki Posted July 16 Posted July 16 (edited) To be honest, a small venue's experience is much better, but If an act can sell out stadiums, It means their demand is just too high. So I prefer when the popular artists I like announce stadiums, cause It means more seats available to buy and to guarantee I'm at least going. Edited July 16 by Mitsuki
