Distantconstellation Posted July 14 Posted July 14 (edited) Releasd in 2003 Intuition by Jewel it was panned by critics and bitter atrl-type-gays as well as holier than thou serious type Karen's and Yolandas who didn't get the "sarcasm". They claimed jewel was selling out when the song/video was released. Even after Jewel said it was sarcasm people still didn't get it. And of course just like atrl, statements like "this is the worst song ever" were thrown around. I see a similarity to what's happening to Katys song, where people don't get the sarcasm and even if they do they just hate on it anyway because they don't like Katy and wannabe edgy. Popular Post ToMmY Posted July 14 Popular Post Posted July 14 Except Jewel's song was extremely good with a great message that nobody got at the moment. Katy's song is **** and was probably written by chatgpt. 22 13
ChooseyLover Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Woman's World could perfectly have the same fate the legendary Intuition had: 1
MerveAksak Posted July 14 Posted July 14 "The first part of the WW music video is SARCASM!" Then the 2nd part is supposed to be real? 5
Bloodflowers. Posted July 14 Posted July 14 (edited) Except Intuition was a good song and was a Top 20 hit (Jewel's first Top 20 peaking song since "Hands" in 1998, "Standing Still" peaked at #25 in 2001) Edited July 14 by Bloodflowers. 3 9
WhateverYouWant Posted July 14 Posted July 14 (edited) I don't get it. Katy wishes ww came close to this. Woman's World is layered with reasons why people shouldnt and don't like it. Jewel made folky pop music with good lyrics and made a (great) commercial pop song. Katy made disposable pop music with a rapist and then made a worse disposable pop song with the same rapist. nostalgic Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Remember when Jewel was delivering actual purposeful pop? 7 7
Talento Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Intuition peaked in the top20 and spent 20 weeks charting, Woman's World could only wish 2 4

Johnnyboi Posted July 14 Posted July 14 People took Jewel seriously beforehand though. No one has taken Katy Perry seriously 1 2
Vespertine Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Intuition is a good song, but people didn't "get" it because it was such a big departure from her sound and because of the huge razor commercial campaign, which seemed to be a sell-out move against the lyrics of the song. Woman's World rehashes Katy's usual sound and her usual hyper sexualized imagery and was produced by a well-known abuser of women. It's impossible not to take it face value. More importantly, the lyrics and imagery in the video are so generic and muddled that it's impossible to extract any meaning from. Suppsoed "satire" doesn't function as satire when you can't actually tell what is intended to be sincere or not. Plus, listen to her Apple Music interview. She's very sincere and genuine about this song and the "feminine divine" The only thing that is seemingly intended to be "satirical" is the Rosie the Riveter part of the video. The idea that the song itself is satire is just something KatyKats are running with to save face. I always think of something great I heard in art school: when the audience is confused, there's a good chance the maker is confused too. Katy is lost rn. 6 2
ithinkheknowsoutsold Posted July 14 Posted July 14 The thing is outside of its message, Intuition is a great pop song with a big chorus and fun production, and it wasn't produced by a rapist. Woman's World is basic and unimaginative even with the lyrics removed, not to mention the fact that it was produced by a rapist. That's why the former still became a solid hit. 3
Spicy Pisces Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Up until recently I found out Jewel is not Jennifer Lawrence. 4 1
JoeAg Posted July 14 Posted July 14 listening to Intuition rn to remind myself of it cause I remember loving it as a kid but idr how it sounded fully brb
ZIVERT Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Jewel's lead single Intuition from her album 0304 being misunderstood in the same way that Katy Perry's lead single Woman's World from her album 143 being misunderstood omg.. you're kinda right.. 1
JoeAg Posted July 14 Posted July 14 OH WOW yep this is a pop classic that chorus is still everything okay, so no. Jewel's song has smart lyrics and sounds like a timeless hit, Katy's is just a sad snippet that tries too hard to recapture a former glory 2
Migs Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Intuition is an excellent pop song with an amazing video and an actual concept behind it, while WW has none of these things. Oh, and as someone has already said, it managed to go top 20 on the Hot 100. Woman's World will go top 20 on the Bubbling Under tops. 2
