Strawberry Bubble Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Pop music is making a strong comeback lately. Artists like Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, and Sabrina Carpenter are adding a lot of flavor to the scene. Back in the day, we had big pop stars like Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo, but things felt less competitive compared to now, when rap, trap, and reggaeton were ruling the charts. Do you think Taylor Swift's massive popularity helped bring back the excitement for pop music we're seeing today? 1 2 9

Olivia released recently too and both girls are still active and relatively new to the scene. Edited July 14 by Kanes 1
Devin Posted July 14 Posted July 14 yall really needa stop the "taylor influenced xyz event in pop culture, we should thank her" narrative. 6 3
pisuke Posted July 14 Posted July 14 No, she made it worse and more basic. The only good thing from her has only been championing Beabadoobee and Sabrina Carpenter, who make better music than her. 1
Sombre Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Sure, people listen to Folklore, Evermore and TTPD and say "wow I'm definitely influenced to listen to more exciting pop music like this!" 6

HausOfPunk Posted July 14 Posted July 14 She helped with the resurgence of greenhouse gas emissions. 2
Draper. Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Yes, but not in the way you make it sound. Sabrina, Chappell or Charli are getting hits because they serve fun, danceable bops or big sing-along choruses which is what gen z finds appealing in the 2000s songs that go viral on Tik Tok. That's the opposite of what Taylor has been serving, so I wouldn't say she "made pop cool again". She made the pop landscape be this one thing with her inescapable presence and now doing something different it's what's working because audiences don't want the same thing over and over again.
ChooseyLover Posted July 14 Posted July 14 People are oblivious if they can't see her influence in some of the younger newcomers. 1
