All music makes a noise. Not all noise is music.

I am giggling that this album will be known for its chart records and variants not for the music itself lmao

You're not wrong describing her as a 'music seller'. Hard to call her an 'artist' these days when her business is driven entirely by actively seeking numbers and records through all means possible rather than artistry and integrity.

Stanning Taylor Swift in 2024 is like stanning a ruthless corporation. But I guess greed and capitalism are viewed more favourably by some when it's a white woman doing it, even though a turd covered in pink glitter is still very much a turd. :doc:

This isn't even for the 12th week at #1 at this point. She already seured the #1 spot over Zach, by almost 15K units.

I think it's more (and totally) about making it the biggest financial success possible for her, for the label, for the team.

Looks like a cycle of capitalism though. To get to the scale of artist and powerhouse of a brand she is, capitalism was required, to sustain that, it is required, and after achieving that, it is still required because of her being at that scale.

And it's not a bad thing. A lot or almost all (if not everyone) of people, let alone artists, do want and aim for financial success in their respective endeavors. And then there's also artists (and people) who after a certain point are satisfied, do not "hustle" or operate at that previous level, and still continue with great consistency and maintain it.

And then there's people (and artists) who kind of find themselves in the cycle? Of constantly chasing the bigger goalpost, one after another. And you do you. It's a personal choice. So it's either that, or she has a WAY BIGGER goal or number she is yet to attain, that we don't know of/about, so she keeps up that drive.

No hate.

At this point let her... she's probably trying to see how far she can push it for next era.

Get ready for her next album. 100 variants each containing different song.

Just give me a live versions from Dublin at this point.

She should have done what Robbie Williams did and offer fans a recording of each concert on a CD so that way people could bring home love CD from the show they attended in full.

Look, they say there's a sucker born every minute and apparently they're all Taylor Swift fans. If she's not embarrassed for exploiting them and they're not embarrassed for shelling out 4.99 for the same album every week, why should anyone else care.

Yuck

Nobody but pop music stans knows about this spammage, the few GP members who come across chart news articles will probably think "who the hell is still buying this album after three months?" for a few seconds and move on. No major news outlets are reporting these shenanigans either :michael:

That ecoterrorist can keep trying... The most popular album of this year is Hit Me Hard and Soft

In 2035, 2045, 2055... when people talk about music in 2024, HMHAS will always be the main album mentioned and discusseds:wan:

PTSD will be some forgotten fad outside of her cult the same way Butter is (both apparently 10 weeks at #1 "smash" on Billboard).

When people talk about music in 2021 right now, literally who will mention Butter? It's all about Happier Than Ever, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo etc.

and I still don't own any copys of Taylor Swift albums :suburban:  kinda glad im not a swiftie. bad enough Allday keeps dropping bits of merch with his new album and already have 3 copies coming because of that.

Taylor needs to forget about this album and just drop Rep TV already.  Then I may consider getting ONE copy of.

She's also clearly doing it for the charts — releasing new variants when her spot at #1 is threatened because she wants to ensure this record of most weeks at the top. Whether you think that's legitimate or not, it's absolutely gamesmanship.

Ah yes shipping the alt CDs these last week was to compete against Morgan that was just 40k units away!

40k must have threatened her!

This is literally the 2nd time the new versions are on a significant chart week 💀

2 of 12 idk how good you are at maths but that's barely a 16% (mind you one of those 2 times she was competing with an artist also doing digital random versions so I guess you'd also call that chart manipulation so that cancels out in a way)

During all June she has been shipping alt CDs to block absolutely no one but yeah threatened!!

Chart manipulation at its finest..Billboard will soon come through and clock her ass just wait and see

She literally releases a cathartic album in the middle of an era that shows the artistry of all her albums that is what connects with people all that why fighting for the right to own her art, but you all just want to see whatever to deny yourself of how well she connects with people out of annoying OTHs online

Maybe just maybe cause people in the media industry knows far better than random people on atrl than these are meaningless and that GP will like Taylor no matter what or how hard you all try

I can't with fans defending this. Even if you are personally not buying them, you are still literally the target audience for this. She thinks nothing more of you than mindless sheep who would and should gladly open their wallets to help her collect those pointless chart stats. She's not serving any creativity, nor packaging any value into these editions. She's a chartist before anything else at this point, and it's both sad and embarrassing.

Genuinely curious what will end up being the final push for Billboard to change the rules about remixes/variants.

They'll wait for it to stop breaking records and then they'll change it in a couple month to avoid backlash & misogyny claims from her fans.

- from a BTS fan so I have experience :dies:
