That was quite a progressive open discussion for 1970. However television had long since progressed to color by then so I don't know why it's in black and white.

Yes, she was interviewing a church that accepts homosexual people and Virginia (the show host) was arguing against it, saying that enabling homosexual behavior will make homosexuality rise, that the church will be converting people into gays :rip:

Woman? That's June Lockhart, a Hollywood legend! She's still living. She's 99. 
 

June was Timmy's mom in "Lassie" and played the mother in "Lost in Space".

It could be a kinescope recording, which is how TV was recorded before videotape. This was done by filming the studio monitor; to use a modern day example, it would be like filming a show on TV with your phone. They were lower quality and often black and white.
