MasterExpose Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I think she's actively trying to flop so gays can stop using the long black hair excuse and go back to the butch pixie cut. I was excited for her but mmm yeah 1
DoublePistols Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) Yall are such a hater lol this looks so fun already and people are loving it Edited July 9 by DoublePistols 8
FOCK Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) It's giving classic Katy. Whether or not that's a good thing or what people want from her atp, is another story. I think the L word has already soured too many to the song though, I'm not sure if visuals will be enough to save it. Edited July 9 by FOCK
Popular Post Headlock Posted July 9 Popular Post Posted July 9 Honestly, this entire thing feels like an SNL skit. Like, why would ANYONE think making a women's empowerment song, with a video referencing Rosie the Riveter (most likely amongst other famous women's empowerment iconography), and have it being produced BY A RAPIST. This is an artist who has hundreds of millions of dollars at her disposal, who could work with any produced she wanted, make anything she wanted, complete with this kind of imagery, and she chose to go back to a rapist. And her team let her. And thought rolling it out as the lead single was a good idea. It's honestly baffling. 2 13 3
Romova99 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Will she evolve or she will be serving the same kind of camp everytime? so bored. 1
Mordecai Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I haven't bothered to look up the lyrics as I'm waiting for the release but if this is about women's empowerment I wish she went for something a little more clever and less quirky and sexy. Like imagine a music video with the Desperate Housewives intro as a reference point

This is quite similar so since her last era maybe but she used it for the first three. I'm still rooting for Katy but I'm not sure camp is where it's at. Some things work for a moment. It'll be interesting to see if her AI spot and other factors work for her or against her.
Billionaire Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Visuals ripped straight from Teenage Dream and the song will likely be a boring 2017-esque 'womans empowerment' song....god help us all 1
BGKC Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Well not for nothin, it reminds me of the days when music videos were highly anticipated. It just figures that it's Katy pulling the same old clownery as opposed to someone else with a bright, new vision. It's not to say the video is bad though. It's just a snippet, and it looks as though there will be a lot to unpack.
BrokenMachine Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I'm gonna keep my mouth shut since ATRL despising it might be a sign of this turning out to be a hit 2

Sannie Posted July 10 Posted July 10 (edited) Her camp used to be tongue-in-cheek and it used to have a little wink and nod to where we knew she was in on the joke... now it's just desperate and cheesy. It's like Gaga in 2013 when the weird antics stopped working but she stuck to it. This clip in particular is peak, white, do-nothing feminism and maybe would've worked better in 2016, but now is very "bunch of old guys in a boardroom think feminism will sell because of the political climate". When you compare it to her contemporaries, what is she offering? Nothing new, nothing subversive. She wants to sing about female empowerment while working with a rapist and staying silent on the dozens of various issues affecting women all around the world. Only losers will fall for this. 1 hour ago, wkpw said: all women in the mv are trans ...... Is this confirmed or do you think they're trans because they're in front of a urinal? sdfkhsdfkdshlsdjfhdfslkjsdfh Trans women don't usually use urinals omg. Edited July 10 by Sannie 6 2
babyforlife Posted July 10 Posted July 10 it looks high budget, but the song is still so boring definitely the worst katy's lead
Headlock Posted July 10 Posted July 10 2 hours ago, wkpw said: all women in the mv are trans Are they just saying this because they're in front of urinals… because trans women don't typically use urinals
CottageHore Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I just wanna know who told her that putting out a female empowerment song (with a man accused of sexually assaulting another pop girl as the producer) as the lead single for a supposed "comeback" was the right move. These kinds of preachy songs, even though they have a good message, always flop because they're too niche and unrelatable to just about anyone who isn't a woman if this does anything chart wise I'll be floored
