Støned Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Why is she wasting so much effort in promoting this boring single, when the obvious smash, Down Bad exists?

Marry The Gods Posted July 9 Posted July 9 one thing no one can ever take from taylor, her title as the mcdonalds of pop music 2 4 1
georgechxng Posted July 9 Posted July 9 the fact that she was able to take credibility away from her chart achievements with all those antics is so funny bc those were the only things swifties would use as arguments in every discussion

No 1 acoustic track-exclusive digital versions or anything. And I think the fanbase would go HARD on attaining a good sales number with such of an album. Would be a moment. 1
SwiftLover Posted July 9 Posted July 9 200k likes….and we have pop girls struggling to get 200k streams… both are free oh, TayMother
makeme Posted July 9 Posted July 9 She has to have mental illness or something there's no reason for a secure adult to act like this. 2 1 1
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted July 9 Posted July 9 At this point I think what her fans are not realizing is that yes, every artist does things like this (not quite as boldly or frequently or Taylor, but nonetheless pulling similar tricks)… but what is hurting Taylor continuing to do her current strategy is the optics. She's quite clearly the HBIC of music, the main character, the big baddie, whatever you wanna call her. The fact that non chart watchers and casual GP are catching onto how aggressive and ruthless she is about the charts tells you everyone you need to know because they normally could give 2 flying fucks. At the end of the day, no one will remember her chart positions or her numbers, but what WILL be remembered is the general pattern of behavior that she is chart obsessed and will do whatever it takes to be #1, whether that means blocking other artists who don't get the opportunity to go #1 every other month like she does or not. It's just not a good look for her image that the queen of music keeps taking things away for herself from other artists who would kill to get even one chance to say, win an aoty Grammy like sza, or get a #1 UK album like Charli, etc. the Grammy award argument is kinda different from the chart argument this thread is about, but the same issue ties them both together. 4

Tylerbv Posted July 9 Posted July 9 My favourite thing about these threads is the tweet itself is harmless but the Swifties flock here and post 20 times saying BBBUT OTHER ARTISTS DID SIMILAR THINGS. Truly the only fan base that can't take criticism or a joke. 1

And they indeed don't give 2 flying fucks about this or her variants. 'TTPD' continues to push 100k units even with no push, her albums are still getting huge massive streams on Spotify, her catalog is all over the Billboard 200 chart, her tour still constantly goes viral, and I can assure you with 100% certainty that her next album will still debut with 1M+ copies and her next stadium tour will sell out in an instant. Twitter likes have zero real world implications.

Yeah that's why she released an entire album with NO features and not as poppy as her previous records

Patient Zero Posted July 9 Posted July 9 There are 3859502185211 TTDP tracks, why is she still trying with this DULL ASS song 2
hawx23 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Ughhhhh the most annoying thing about this is could she please just move on to another single already. (Guilty as Sin is right there! Or the title track..) 1

Twitter likes have zero real world implications. It goes without saying she will have humongous numbers and sold out tours the rest of her career. You are mentioning STATS. I am talking about her image and how people perceive her which numbers don't always accurately represent. It will not be good for her long term legacy to be remembered as ruthless and taking away opportunities from other people. Or that she was chart hungry to the point she made records solely to maximize chart success (which is how a lot of casuals are perceiving the TTPD era and why she released 30 tracks for it). She may be unharmed now, but excessive chart hunger can most definitely hurt artists long term (see what happened to M5 & Ed Sheeran).
Radical Pessimism Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Acoustic version when the original song sounds like one?
banterfly Posted July 10 Posted July 10 When she's not on top of the world, all her chart achievements will have *asterisks* in them, indicating how many variants and versions were needed for them.
