toast Posted July 8 Posted July 8 It's a good album, there's just no way it was going to be as big of a moment as the Renaissance album/tour was. I think it'll do well during awards season - I can see older voters responding more positively to CC than they did to Renny.
ATRL Moderator Oxygen Posted July 8 ATRL Moderator Posted July 8 It’s a great album but it doesn’t have much replay value.
Bewitched Posted July 8 Posted July 8 I'm not much of a country fan except for like Dolly Parton so I can't really judge whether it's good or not but I also don't think it's bad
period sis Posted July 8 Posted July 8 No one would be saying anything about this album being "bad" if it wasn't for numbers. That's why I think streaming has really ruined the perception of the music experience because everyone is so brainwashed by numbers and charts to tell them what's good and what isn't.
Bussea Posted July 8 Posted July 8 I don't think it's bad but I also don't think its good. and with that I can respect it because it's opening door for other black country artists and paid tribute to an underrated one who was due her flowers.
Jay07 Posted July 8 Posted July 8 It's only coming from a certain fanbase because they're jealous of its acclaim and metacritic score. Don't pay them any mind. 2 1
wantedyoutogrow Posted July 8 Posted July 8 It's not a bad album, but it severely lacks replay value Also, it's just not up to par to her previous work, I still remember some of y'all trying to gaslight us into thinking this album is better than Renaissance when that's just not true 1 1 1
Prodigal Self Posted July 8 Posted July 8 It's a great album. Drag the low streams all you want but the album is still great 2
byzantium Posted July 8 Posted July 8 It's not bad…but it is not really good either. It's kind of just there. This is probably in the conversation for the worst Beyoncé album. 1 2
Pheromosa Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Once you see the kind of albums they cream themselves over it all becomes a joke Seeing them gush over Brat 1 2 1
bad guy Posted July 8 Posted July 8 (edited) Ameriican Requiem, II Most Wanted, Protector, and Bodyguard are career highlights but as a whole it's a bit bloated. I also think the lack of visuals hurt its longevity as the album tells a story that I feel requires visuals like she did with Lemonade. But maybe she's waiting for Act III to do all that. Either way it's funny how this was AOTY on here when it was smashing and now it's "bad". The stan twitterfication of ATRL should be studied Edited July 8 by bad guy 4 1
BGKC Posted July 8 Posted July 8 CC can be cut in half tbh, but it's a great body of work nonetheless. Just out of place from the alt/disco pop vibes that are current. It's getting the same treatment "4" did. Everyone convinced themselves it was boring/a flop compared to everything else that was current (EDM Pop), but it was eventually appreciated and acknowledged as a classic in the long run. CC will probably be elevated later down the line via visuals or the tour (or not ) 1
MusicLoverDude Posted July 8 Posted July 8 3 hours ago, Armani? said: It's a country album, they don't stream that genre in general here anyway lol unless it's Kacey Musgraves
Soda Pop Queen Posted July 8 Posted July 8 (edited) lol you really expected the average ATRL'er that stans numbers, has the attention span of a gnat and the musical inclination of a baby shark jingle to be able to soak this grandiosity in? By the time they switch, Act lll will be here. Watch. Edited July 8 by Soda Pop Queen 1 1 1
Slap Posted July 8 Posted July 8 She tried something new, it's so clear a lot of people stan these girls because of their stats not the music which is sad asf. 1
Gladiator Posted July 8 Posted July 8 (edited) Anyone with ears can tell Cowboy Carter is a great album. Nobody but the peanut gallery really cares what closed minded dance pop stans who share the same last.fm top stats have to say about music. Edited July 8 by Gladiator 2 1
masochizm Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Definitely far from bad, but I'd say its one of her worst albums
Funnyfatty Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Its not bad indeed. Its TERRIBLE. The best she could do is show us her vision about the album by performances and videos but she ditched it. The music is literally unlistenable. And i say this as someone who loves her album The Gift. She just released a country album and ran away. We don't even know what she thinks about the album herself, which songs are her faves, which excites her the most, what happened backstage. what is there to like and respect?
Marry The Gods Posted July 8 Posted July 8 It's my least favorite Beyonce album but its still a decent body of work. I just don't revisit it much because I'm not into country music. I hope her next album is more rock.
