We need the presidents of war torn countries to behave in a mature and dignified manner and for them to stop being so religiously polarising whilst also coveting the wealth produced by whatever natural resource their country has a monopoly on and for them to stop hoarding that money from the international sale of those resources for themselves but to instead channel those profits back in to their country's economies for the good of their populations.

In NOT doing that, the indigenous peoples in turn get victimised by various military factions and have no option other than to flee/ re-locate to find peace.

The U.S. needs to assassinate the presidents of those countries and stop their associated authoritarian regimes. Replacing those presidents with a system of democratically elected officials and for the U.S. to maintain a military presence in those land masses to ensure the incumbent controlling regimes behave in ethical and moral ways.

That way people (populations) can be more evenly distributed on the planet's surface, thus nobody has to relocate to escape anything and western countries in turn do not have their public services stretched to breaking point which ignites feelings of tension and prejudice amongst western indigenous populations against vast influxes of non-indigenous people.

US should run around and occupy countries in name of "peace" ? :skull: It's why countries like Afghanistan is a mess, because US interfered somewhere they had no business being, supporting Taliban, until they realized that probably wasn't a good idea

If the West truly wanted people from non-Western countries to stay there, the West should stop extracting resources from former colonies, and other poor countries, because this exploitation ruins any chance of Economic growth. Unfortunately a lot of the Wests economy is based on this, so it won't be happening soon

It is astonishing that how French people have been collectively saying NO this hag. You should be proud.

The far-right bigots losing is a massive L for western leftists who want every democratic country to fall to fascism so they can say "I told you so". :jonny:

Once again, the media overhyped the far right because they, like leftists, want them to win. Thank God rational people stepped forward and said NO!

I'm looking at the results and they're so confusing. Le Pen's party won the popular vote by 10% over each of the left wing parties, yet both got more seats than them? Can a French person explain this to me please :rip:

Global popular vote doesn't mean much in that case. See it as 577 seperate local elections. RN had a candidate in round 2 in almost all of them, while the Left and Macron's party chose to withdraw if they were 3rd during round 1 to prevent RN from winning. So the sum of votes for roughly 500 candidates mostly losing (RN) will still be more than the one of 200~300 candidates mostly winning (Left & Macron)

To be so politically illiterate and frighteningly confident at the same time is quite a feat, hats off diva

It happens often in the vote-by-district kind of system

It's hard to explain, but it just means that the RN votes is way more uniform all over France than the votes of NFP and Ensemble which are more concentrated in some specific areas

This was a really helpful way to explain it. Thanks!

I work with a couple of ladies who lived under the USSR. And they had nothing but great things to say about it.

71.24% of French voted for centre/right/far-right parties

Only 28.76% voted for left/far-left parties, so saying that the left won is kind of absurd

Oh they big mad. :deadbanana4: If the far-right is already calling centrists coup-committing socialists, sounds like the center should just accept socialists as the group they should always work with instead of trying to smother.

Reminds me of this Reddit post from when Le Pen got walloped back in 2017

It's crazy how this is being described as "GOMMUNISM!!1!" when 1950s America had a higher tax rate (91%). Oh, Trente Glorieuses, how I miss them...

Good luck with that economy you speak of :deadbanana:  I'm centre left so I'm all about taxing the rich but 90% tax on anything over 400,000. What's the incentive for innovation or high achievers. Also taking a huge chunk of the population and placing them on state pensions and out of the work force, while raising minimum age will destroy small business and economy. This is all irrational populism under the guise of socialism.

It's a crazy manifesto for a government to achieve in a term. Theyd need decades to phase these in while carefully balancing the budgets, supporting small business, increasing incentive for innovation. Investors will pull out of France, corporations will run a mile. There's ways and means to become more socialised and decrease the gap between wealthy and poverty. This crazy ass plan is not IT, darling!

All professions that may be impacted and may move from France,

Medical researcher

Neurosurgeon

Orthopedic surgeon

Engineers

Pharma development

Entrepreneurship

Sports players

Actors

Popular art

Music

Famous people in general that ar

France will become a low rated economy with no innovation, creation,  or leading professions. Ain't nobody staying there if they can move to Ireland, Germany, Spain and allocate that as their country of taxation, it's simple. Just live outside of France 6 months and 1 day.

Extremism at its best! It'll be cute for the first year or two though while they plummet into insurmountable debt, :lmao:
